Megumi El-Gouna — Restaurant in Gamsha

This place was recommended to us by our local friend so we decided to give it a try! Vibe wise this place was the best we’ve been too thus far and we’ve been to a lot! The music was good, the views are amazing, and the general atmosphere is great!

We also enjoyed the food a lot, they are very small plates & bites so don’t expect to come for a full course meal. I strongly recommend you try the Sweet Soy Beef and their sushi rolls - we tried the New Style California and the Crab Tempura Maki and both were really good.

Our only issue with this place was that they give you a table according to time slots so we had a 7-10 time slot but ended up getting a few drinks and wanting to stay but at exactly 9:55 they came to kick us off our table as he was literally bringing us down a bottle. We tried to ask if we could stay on the table for a bit at least until the party arrives but they refused, so basically all these tables are to remain empty from 10pm until 1am and keep in mind that you can show up anytime between those slots… so that didn’t really make much sense to us. Also another thing that was annoying is that when he kicked us off our table, there were already a bunch of empty tables.

I mean, we get it of course they have other reservations but we didn’t love the approach or the system.

Overall, I would add this to your must visit places when in Gouna but bare in mind their slots and I would recommend booking the late slot which is 10-1 as it’s more of a vibe!

The cocktails are terrible. As an advertised cocktail bar it's actually misleading because the cocktails are 50% ice and taste of little basic alcohol. It is located in a nice place and has a great potential but the service overall it's very bad and that's why it's not so busy. Ordered 2 drinks yesterday which took quite a bit to arrive although it was almost empty. And the server poured a bit of water from a cheap plastic bottle and then when paying, he added it on the bill, without mentioning to us that it will cost $3 extra. He was sly too because he saw that we finished our main drinks and ready to pay when he approached again to pour more water, knowing that we will not use it as we were about to leave. Not only he used very little from the full bottle, the way he acted because he saw we are tourists and probably thought we are idiots and easy to cheat, was absolutely lame. The manager was nice and when we explained what happened, he returned us the money but this shouldn't happen to tourists because it's very rude and unprofessional.
