I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zain Alasham in the Old Market of Rehab City, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish!
Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor beautifully blends traditional and modern elements, creating a cozy yet elegant setting perfect for any occasion. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and their hospitality set the tone for a delightful evening.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely outstanding! The menu features a wide variety of authentic Middle Eastern dishes, each crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. We started with the mezze platter, which was a feast for the eyes and the palate. Each item, from the hummus to the stuffed grape leaves, was bursting with taste. For the main course, I opted for the grilled kebabs, which were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with a smoky flavor that was simply irresistible.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the dessert. I tried the kunafa, and it was heavenly! The balance of sweetness and texture was just right, leaving me wanting more.
What truly sets Zain Alasham apart is the attention to detail and the passion for authenticity. The staff are not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the dishes, offering excellent recommendations that enhanced our dining experience.
Overall, Zain Alasham at Old Market is a jewel in Rehab City. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend visiting this fantastic restaurant. With outstanding food, warm service, and a lovely ambiance, it’s an experience worth every star. I can’t...
Read moreHaving tried quite a few places in Cairo already, I was excited to visit Zain Alsham. The service throughout our meal was poor, from being show to our table, through to getting the bill. Items were forgotten, we were ignored at times, and when we wanted to leave, it took 25 minutes for them to bring the card machine + bill, after repeatedly asking.
Food-wise, some items were better than others. There was an overreliance on toum, which I think was added to mask some of the dryness of the meat, and our potatoes were severely undercooked. The kaiser I had was quite grissly, sadly, and not as flavoursome as others in Cairo. The chicken wrap was decent - but for somewhere specialising in this, I'd have expected better. The walnut dip was excellent, though, and the fattah was an great size for the price. Overall, not great, but...
Read moreI had a truly disappointing visit. When I arrived, the waiter greeted the guest who was behind me and completely ignored me, so I had to seat myself. Later, the same waiter asked me to change tables because mine was "reserved" — although there was no sign indicating that. He called a colleague to seat me elsewhere, which I accepted.
After that, we were left waiting for a long time — no menu, no water, not even a basic acknowledgment. I would have understood if the place was very busy, but then I saw new customers sit at the table right next to us, and they were warmly greeted and offered a complimentary drink.
Meanwhile, no one even approached our table, so we eventually left. Extremely poor service and no sense of hospitality. I won’t...
