Hidden (but not unknown) gem in Port Said!
From a local recommendation, I decided to go to this fish and seafood restaurant in Port Said, while expecting another usual Egyptian seafood location. Alam el Behar was an amazing surprise in here is why.
The location: situated within the heart of the heart of Port Said, you can rarely find in Egypt such authentic and not touristic addresses in central location. It’s street itself is a small street that can barely fit a car so this adds to the vibe of the location.
The place: what is so special and different this place is for sure it’s size and the decoration. It is a small restaurant that is taking advantage of every inch in the restaurant. The decoration is more one of a flea market than a fish restaurant. Old dolls, old phones, maps, Al Masry FC flag, you really feel like you are eating at your grandma’s house.
The vibe: as soon as you step foot in the restaurant, you are greeted by Ali (maybe the owner or manager?) who welcomes in a very special Port Saidi way and makes you choose your fish and seafood before anything else. He guides you, and for us, all his recommendations were great. Which leads me to the last point…
The food: excellent. Just plain excellent. Fish, crabs, shrimps, rice, soup…all was succulent.
Definitely a not miss if you are...

Food 4/10 Soup is runny and very poor in terms of taste. Fish is not bad but not great. Just ok
Shop placement 2/10 Location is bad and not worth the money
Parking 0/10 Non existing and no close parking
Seating and decorations 3/10 Not the typical restaurant you would expect
Cleanliness 5/10 Although the food had some comments and we passed it but the place it self needs a lot of work. Dust is a major issue with all the dormant decorations
The experience it self was poor and not recommended I urge foodies to stay away from the place May be better to order fish only and let them deliver or stay away completely.
Not really gonna try it again as paying much for little ain’t a...
