Best place to go for a coffee and cake in Haapsalu! Amazingly relaxed atmosphere! This is ultimately my favourite cafe in this world! When I feel like escaping, then Haapsalu and Müürivahe kohvik is the right place to go! The atmosphere there is so soothing and relaxed. Makes you feel like there are no challenges in this world and time stops. Café’s interior is light and specious. During high season, then also outside garden area is open. You can bring also your pets along. Last time we were there, then there was a huge dog, Lotte there. She was very happy that she was given her own water bowl and also everyone could come and pat her. Such a sweety. For the main I had goat cheese salad and my friend had fish soup. The smell of the soup was like I remember a fish soup should smell like from my childhood. Goat cheese in the salad was nicely melted and tasted delicious. This place has the best cakes. We make a tasting of 5 cakes for 3 people :) From the deserts we all agreed that the winner was definitely pavlova with its creamy content and crispy outside :D and also strawberries added :) most enjoyable! Time flew by quickly, we found ourselves being there for nearly 3 hours! Only one sad side was - unfortunately they did not have any lactose free milk, which I little bit missed since I am not a big fan of black coffee. Next time I take my own milk with me! Even though place packed, then client service was polite and tried to make...
Read moreWe went to Müüriääre kohvik for dinner and had beef tenderloin with chimichurri and roasted vegetables for our main course. We weren't asked what doneness we wanted and we forgot to do it ourselves. Unfortunately, when the meat arrived, it was more rare than whatever it was supposed to be. We asked for it to be cooked again to medium-plus, but it was no use, the meat was still the same. We were able to cut the meat from the edges, about 4 small pieces, but the middle was still too raw and bloody and remained inedible. We sent one piece of meat back to the kitchen to be cooked well-done, but since cooking takes time, I gave up completely and the well-done piece of meat ended up looking like a black boot sole and unfortunately you can't cut raw meat with a regular knife, at least give people a steak knife. I hope you learn something from this. 25 euros is a bit much for this circus, I asked for a 20% discount on both meat portions, which is very rarely asked, but the cashier only wanted to give a discount on one, if cooking meat is not your thing, then don't put it on the cafe menu. The appetizer...
Read moreTwo stars because the interior has not changed much over the years and is still homely, and the painting of Epp-Maria Kokamägi is on the wall. Everything on the afternoon of February 19 was unsatisfactory. The kitchen closed an hour earlier without any reason, the waiter could only say that there was not enough clients – we were there ready to eat (three persons!). The service happened in slow motion. The prices of the cakes are outrage: the same product can be bought at the corner bakery across the street for more than a third cheaper – ten steps are not worth 2 € price difference. The toilet smelled so bad that I got a headache after standing at the counter for 12 minutes. We did, however, buy two buns with whipped cream ("vastlad", an Estonian insider's thing) to go, and they had a pretty interesting taste, also the price was normal. All in all the change of owner has not benefited the cafe. I wouldn't go back there again. Which is a shame, because it was our favorite...
