Franzia — Restaurant in Narva-Jõesuu linn

Oh, where do I even begin with the culinary journey that was my recent visit to Franzia? Given its popularity, I was expecting a meal that would be nothing short of life-changing. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

I decided to try the smelt. And I must say, the fish was lovely, an actual delight. However, the mashed potatoes that accompanied this fine fish were another story altogether. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they were stone-cold, clearly prepared in advance and served without even a hint of warmth.

I mentioned this to our charming waitress. She scurried off and returned with an additional portion of mashed potatoes that had clearly been microwaved. There’s nothing quite like the taste of reheated mash to really make a meal memorable, right?

As if that wasn’t enough, I was left to admire my empty plate for an eternity before the bill arrived. I even tried to catch the waitress' attention to receive it.

It was obvious that I was finished, yet no one thought to offer me anything else. Not even a gesture of goodwill in the form of a discount for the earlier cold potatoes.

So, while the smelt was nice, the overall experience left much to be desired. Perhaps one day, I’ll give Franzia another shot. But for now, consider me thoroughly...

Small pearl in Narva-jõesuu! As our hotel did not offer late breakfast and all other dining places were closed we went to the city to grab some brunch. After looking around and finding mostly soviet-feeling food we saw small building, which did not look really inviting but burning grill outside in a cold winter day gave us a hint - there must be more inside. As we went in the room had interesting vibe. Looking a bit messy, yet interesting and inviting. The fireplace gave us warmth as it was -13 outside and we were able to sit just next to it. It did feel like a hunting cabin in the woods. And then came the menu and the food...

And what a journey of mouthful enjoyment it was! The frog legs was a surprise we did not expect to be served here. Steak - easy to ruin, was made just perfect. Ribs did just melt in the mouth! And dessert - man, it was enjoyment!

A place that's definitely not worth the high rating. Ordered fish rosolje and ribs. The rosolje was not as one would expect- it was supposed to be with fish but in reality it also contained pork. Also, the salad was missing sauce and was not mixed as rosolje is supposed to be. What is more, they had added apple pieces to the salad- that's not what one should do with rosolje.
