I have always found this place to have a great menu and argued with many before I even tasted it that it maybe the best restaurant in the city. Many said that it wasn't as great in food flavors and service as it is written in the menu.

My brother wanted to have a healthy breakfast meal and recommended this place. I called the place right away and made a reservation and asked until what time they serve breakfast and considering it was Saturday, they said until about 3pm.

When we got there, we parked on the street as there wasn't any parking space for the place located in the busy area of Signal area on the other side of Hayahulet.

No one asked if we had reservation and sat and continued to order our meal. We order Beef Fillet, Grilled Chicken Breast, French Toast and Seafood Omelette.

Out waitress brought us a 'Bruschetta' with tomatoes and parmesan cheese. It was a very nice touch and complimentary. Our lunch / brunch arrived and the Seafood Omelette was more than I expected. It was very hot, delicious, perfect portion and plenty of seafood (both garnished and sauteed with). It was one of the best dishes I have ever had and priced only at 900 birr.

With many new restaurants opening in Addis Ababa like Marcus Addis and C-Prem, Five Loaves seems to have the capablility to compete with those restaurants although it lacks...

During the middle of of our lunch / brunch service, the staff that is supposedly to start work at around noon just stormed in through the front door and at that with some staff carrying their aprons in their hands and greeting one another in the middle of the floor and asking the earlier staff the statuses of the morning service.

Some great painings / photos are placed on the walls throughout the restaurant, but seem to be dirty, old and not aligned.

Shouldn't you have a reception at the door?

But my overall experience at this place was beyond my expectation. It was amazing. I can not wait to return and try other dishes I read in the menu like Roasted Whole Chicken and...

Do not leave Ethiopia without coming here! make a reservation Arrive hungry This place was not on my list of places to go, but the owner of the Guesthouse we are staying in took us here. We’re glad she did. Parking is difficult so take a cab or map it out to see about local transportation. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. Make sure you look too your left so you can feast your eyes on the deserts. The menu is in English and the prices are inexpensive for a restaurant of this quality. Food is made to order so if you have an allergy or a specific request let them know. My wife and I had the Louisiana Chicken (because our host ordered it for herself). The food was excellent. NOTE: as I understand, Ethiopia does not use hormones and chemicals in their food so it will taste different than in America (more like bio-organic free range chicken). The chef has international training and it shows in the food. If you want Ethiopian food do not come here. If you want excellent food and service in a nice atmosphere and well maintained...

One of the best or probably the best restaurant I have ever visited. The food is just perfect. We went there as Sunday Brunch. The Chef, Theo, welcomed us by himself and gave us free Chef’s gift. The Greek salad was amazing and I ordered an extra one for take away. Omelets, pancakes and waffle were very good. The restaurant offers international food as well as Ethiopian food. The Chef has 36 years of experience in the United States including 2 Michelin Starts restaurants and came bake to Addis to teach his home country whatever he learned. I forgot to say that if you want to eat cheese this is the only restaurant that offers cheese platter as the Chef is the one who imported them to Addis. It is a must go restaurant for any one visiting Addis Ababa and I will go back to it again before I leave.
