ኮባ Cake & Comfort at Koba Pastry 🍰☕
I recently visited Koba Pastry, and if you're craving quality cake, this is definitely the place to go. I tried their cheesecake with a cup of hot tea, and the combo was spot-on. The cheesecake was creamy and smooth, with a rich texture that just melts in your mouth. The tea added a warm, relaxing touch—perfect for a short, sweet break.
The pastry display is a visual delight. From the vibrant Pistachio Velvet to the sleek Chocolate Fudge, everything looks as good as it tastes. Their éclairs—whether coated in coffee glaze, cream, or rich chocolate—are beautifully crafted and flavourful.
Customer handling is also commendable—friendly and professional. You feel attended to without being rushed.
However, it’s not the kind of place you'd bring children to, and seating can be limited, especially if you come in a group. Sometimes, you might not even get a seat at all. It really depends on the day and how crowded it is.
That said, go for the cake and coffee—that’s where Koba truly shines. It’s not a lounge or hangout spot, but for a quick indulgence or takeaway, it’s well worth it.
So if you're passing by or planning to treat yourself, make it Koba—and make it cake.
Comment: What if you serve the cake with ኮባ itself. Make it unique, make it special.

Firstly, let me say I used to be one of the biggest fans of Koba, even defending them on social media from the odd poor post here or there.
However, over the last year I've noticed the quality has drastically reduced. From what was one of the most amazing pastry places in Addis and comparable to global cafes, it is now reduced to an above average Addis cafe. I suspect like all places once the original chef departed the standards and ingredients must have dropped.
I've given Koba 1 year before writing this review to see if it was a typical distribution issue of low stock or no stock challenge of Ethiopian distribution and logistics but I've noticed this marked drop in quality across all branches.
Really sad to see such a great place literqlly crumbling. Here is a photo of my recent donut which is becoming basically crumbly bread (too thick and dense) instead of a light and fluffy sweet goodness which it used to be!
Sandwiches and savory food is still decent, service is also still great but quality of sweets and bread nowhere near what it...

The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual chat with friends or a relaxing solo treat. One standout recommendation is the Ethiopian espresso cake—rich, flavorful, and a must-try for coffee lovers. Whether you’re here for dessert, a quick bite, or just some good company, this place...
