Kaya Cafe Beachside — Restaurant in Kagoshima

So disappointed in the service here. We came here twice and the interior and food were good but on the second visit the staff forgot a part of our meal and we noticed when other customers had an extra dish we notified the staff and they offered us that dish takeaway but we had already finished our meal. Instead of offering compensation or an explanation the first time we asked they just ignored and again offered the dish to be takeaway. I then went up and spoke to a woman who told me that the soup was not up to standard and didn’t taste good so they didn’t serve it but then I questioned why we didn’t get told that or get another dish instead. I actually did say to her I hope we didn’t get treated differently because we’re not Japanese and she got really apologetic however I did hear her say in Japanese to her staff referring to us as foreigners (which in my opinion is quite rude). Great burger, great homemade ginger ale (maybe more of Ginger Beer?), great staff. Wish it was open a a little later for dinner? Staying at the Guesthouse there is not much food around, so it would have been great to have this as an option for meals. Even if the kitchen was open an hour longer, it would definitely get business - especially with the beach right outside! Spicy burger was great, and the onion rings, Salad, and soup all...

A really nice and modern café with tasty food and drinks (nothing over the top, just solid and good). The interior is definitely unique – it felt a bit like being in a flea market, but it seems to be part of the artistic concept (which we might not fully understand 😄). Still, the overall vibe was great and the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming. Worth a visit if you enjoy places...
