Joyfull — Restaurant in Kagoshima

I never used to eat a Joyfull or places like that, but this one's really close to where I live, and it's convenient, so I've been coming here a couple of times a month, and it's usually OK, but I was just reminded of why I avoided these places in the past. The wait staff is great but management needs to light a fire under the kitchen staff. I've been consistently getting lukewarm "sizzling" plates for a few months now, and today finished it for me. I ordered item 352 wholesale prime beef plate with corn, broccoli, potato wedges, a lemon slice, and au jus. I ordered it together with 618 Set A. The waiter brought it out and warned me that the little pan it was served in was hot, so I should be careful. Well, the whole plate was actually slightly below room temperature, and so was all the food on it. I literally picked up the pan and put my hand on the bottom of it to check. All the set A items were properly heated through. I picked up the pan by the nice cool handle and walked it back to the kitchen to politely ask them to heat my food up please. It came back about five minutes later. The pan was hot in a few places, but the food was still cold, except where it was touching the hot parts of the pan. I understand that the food is all pre-cooked and staged in a cooler, so they can heat it up quickly on demand. I have no problem with that, at this price point. I also understand that the sizzling plate is a presentation piece that also keeps your food warm for a few extra minutes, and that they're not actually cooking anything in it. What kills it for me though, is that they didn't even bother to heat up the food before putting it in the pan and firing it to make the pan hot. Twice.

Great potential, but there are a few things I’d like to point out. Among other things, we ordered fried chicken which only contained the joints, which did not match expectations considering the misinforming pictures and the fact it was not possible to eat. Continuously the food that was presented did not satisfy us at all and believe whatever part of the restaurant cooks’ that is responsible, require adjustment.

The interior has a charming American diner vibe. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable with a good variety on the menu. There’s also a drink bar available.
