Brasserie NÒR — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

I booked this restaurant knowing the prices were on the higher side — not surprising given the airport location, the runway views (great if you’re into planes), and the promise of high-quality food with an “exciting twist.”

The interior is lovely: modern, calming, and well-designed. However, the music choice didn’t suit the atmosphere. It felt more like something you’d hear in a lively city bar or nightclub, which clashed with the otherwise relaxing setting.

I ordered the moules (€36), which were pleasant but far from exceptional. At that price point, I expected something more memorable — I’ve had better for much less elsewhere. For dessert, I chose the rhubarb dish (€14). The description sounded great, but in reality, it just tasted like cold rhubarb on overly sweet vanilla yogurt. The vanilla completely overpowered the other elements.

At these price levels, the food needs to be the star. As it stands, the restaurant feels like it’s relying too much on the view and the location to justify the cost, rather than delivering truly standout dishes.

Amazing food with a European influence located in clarion hotel. The beef carpaccio was very good saltiness from the fish roe and the beef was seasoned well. Honestly the soup was not for me but I like the fried reindeer heart. The oysters were kinda mid.

What blew me away was the red wine beef ribs because they were so tender and the red wine sauce was so rich and flavourful. I like the roasted cabbage because its an interesting way to cook it

Burger was spot on flavours work the crunch from onion and the acidity of pickles it just blends perfectly. One of the best burgers I’ve had. Fries were uniform and perfectly crispy.

Expected more, we went for drinks to a 'skybar on 12th floor, but since you mainly see roofs of the aiport building and other hotels, it looks like you may be on a 5th or 6th floor. Even me who is scared of hights, was not excited. View was not stunning, like said just roofs and runway. Nice to watch few take offs of airplains but thats all. Theres also a small outside terrace, but it was quite windy there. NOR restaurant and this bar are the same restaurant. We got small ciders with huge price, 9 euros eatch! Dinners are expensive too. I think the dining area's setting is not for a calm, peaceful dinner, which i expect based on the price level. Surely food may be fantastic, i did not...
