They say Finns like cheap, tasteless and bland food but 10€ for all you can eat doesn't fill the first criteria in this case.
I have been here twice with a couple of months inbetween, so now I write this review as a note to myself and all who might stumble upon it: I do not want to eat here unless my life depended on it or they'd give their food for free - and even then I'd ponder my options for a while...
Sure, the buffet includes free coca-cola as much as you can drink - however the machine spits out liquid that seems more like black water than coca-cola and I am not even making this up. So even the soda is bland and tasteless, but being free it is cheap aswell. (Unless you go solely for the soft drinks, then 10€ for that excuse of a soda is a robbery and you are the victim.)
I feel as though now I'm bashing this restaurant and being unreasonable since 10€ is definitely not too costly for a buffet... But for a buffet I couldn't enjoy even as I was so hungry I honestly ate a tablespoon of ketchup as appetizer which tasted more delicious than anything they served I think my harsh critique is justified.
The second star comes from the hassle-free ordering. I came in, said only "Buffet." and thanked once I was handed a plate and was not once more forced to have any contact with the staff. I ate and left once more feeling disappointed that Kung Food Panda's "Chinese food" just like the name suggests is an obviously cheap knock-off kicked up by the success of a movie...
Read more16.6.2024 15:30. First visit and on a sunday. Usually the restaurants charge extra but here it was 12.90€, a deciding factor to have a buffet.
Food: Started with soup of The Day, a tofu vegetable soup. It was warm and nice but packed flavour. Could do with more Salt, pepper and some other spices. Greens were cool and fresh. Tasty salad dressing. Some of the mainos were really nice like crispy chicken and mandarin chicken. Overall the chicken dishes were well done. Spicy fish was nice too. The fried noodles and rice noodles were pretty greasy and luke warm. I have to say i have had much better. But there is a catch why i would still recommend this place. Nice coffee, no dessert though. It's a 3+/5.
Service: Very friendly and welcoming staff with a beautiful smile. Informational and to the point. 5/5.
Atmosphere: Typical along the aisle, a little tight fit with the tables and chairs. I saw a couple move the chairs around to fit on tables behind each other. I believe the restrooms at the shopping center do their job so this place probably has none, as there was no need. 3/5.
Overall: Nice staff, some nice dishes, others could be better, maybe lacking a bit of spice here and there, yet fulfilling and tasty. But the kicker is definetely the price, best deal around on a sunday and you won't leave hungry or asking for more. If the price was higher, i would go elsewhere. Still this place is a solid choice....
Read moreI'm writing this review for Kung Food Panda buffet restaurants in general after having tried multiple of them. They are not trying to be the best Chinese restaurant in town rather trying to be the express fast food Chinese restaurant chain that your town needed. They don't serve sushi unlike most Chinese - Asian Buffet serving restaurants but what they serve is consistent no matter which branch you go to. Not mind-blowing taste but not disappointing unlike it can be in case you're at some place you're not around often and have to try something new. My personal favorite item is the dynamite chicken, and the fact that you can have unlimited soda drinks is a warm welcome for the price. Finally, taste wise I'd give it a 3/5 but given you can find multiple branches throughout Helsinki region and it's a great bang for the buck, my overall rating...
