Brasserie Ångbåtsbryggan — Restaurant in Mariehamn sub-region

A busy and bustling seafood focused restaurant that admittedly did everything pretty much right, food-wise. There were loads of cream, butter and salt. Fresh ingredients and a nice touch of finesse. Simple, uncomplicated and good. The kitchen works apparently like a well oiled machine, even though the place is huge and full (reserve ahead, we lucked out by arriving when the place was starting to fill in), everything flies to the table at break neck speeds.

Pretty good wine selection too. Beer list might benefit from expansion. The highlights of our meal were the smoked shrimps, the extremely lovely mussels and the lobster. To improve, i would consider providing a bit better "toolset" for the diners, to be used for the hard shell crustaceans.

The service was friendly. Our server attempted humor in suggesting that i could order and finish a plate meant for two diners, by myself. I'm not so keen on humour in these situations, so i wondered afterwards if he would have let me order it? The plate of seafood in question (89€) was an undertaking even for two of my friends (and i pitched in, so food would not go to waste). But to offer views like this is a bit crass and straightforward for me.

So to summarize, the portion sizes are huge.

Flavours are fresh and comforting. The premises are classy, prices reflect that. The toilets for some reason, had no AC whatsoever and were really hot. In summary, a pretty great night out in this restaurant. I will be back when i next...

We had an amazing experience on Saturday! The food was not only very tasty but also beautifully presented, making the whole dinner feel special. I would like to give a big thank you to our waitress, Alexandra, who truly elevated the evening with her wonderful service and kindness.
