This review is going to be a bit long, so to summarize, I will shorten it as thus.
Its amazing. You will not be disappointed. Its worth your time and money.
Now for a longer review.
On arrival, we are greeted by a door that felt like I was not supposed to be pulling it open. The vacuum-like suction of their air duct system so strong it's pulling the door closed. But, pulling a little harder, I'm introduced to a beautiful bar. Clean, spotless, well stocked, with many bottles more than half empty. A good sign for a restaurant and bar in such a small town.
As we take our seats by our table, I already note a few things. As I kick my leather bag under the table, the floor is clean. The chairs are comfy, even for someone larger like me. The lighting in the room is nice, and the music is kept classy, and at a comfortable volume to talk over.
As we take a look at the menu, it's displayer to us on a one page A3 sized paper making it easy to read. On first glance, the prices are extremely reasonable. Taking a look at the separate drinks menu, we notice their Irish coffee is priced at an extremely competitive 10€. We have to revisit that later. We order our food and drink, and wait.
As we are served our drinks another detail jumps out. My partner had a drink that was 3dL, and I had a half liter beer. Yet, our glasses were the same shape, but different sizes. Neat detail!
It is then, in that moment, that I started to realize how meticulously put together this place really is. The attention to the small details here is off the charts. Clean air conditioners, no dust anywhere, everything is clean and comfortable, the staff has been nothing but nice... My anticipation for the food was steadily rising to say the least.
"I hope they don't mess up the food..."
For food, in a place called "ribs" that quite literally owns the domain name ribs.fi, me and my partner of course had the titular ribs. The time from ordering to the plates hitting our table took about 15 minutes. A completely acceptable wait time.
I can safely say that domain name went to the right place, serving tougher but incredibly tasty dutch style ribs. I have absolutely no qualms with the food amount either. It was a pretty sizeable portion!
So, luckily but perhaps unsurprisingly, it was exceptionally good. A big portion for the price of 25€ is hard to beat, especially with an atmosphere like this, with a beer prize at only 9€.
This place was quickly knocking other establishments off of the leaderboards in my head, not just in the small city of Ekenäs, but other cities too. It was growing on me.
For dessert, we relocated from our table to the bar, and enjoyed a desert and that 10€ Irish coffee. I had to see it to believe it.
It is at the bar I finalized my thoughts for this review, drinking said Irish coffee. And as I paid my bill, it came to about 50€ per individual.
For the first time in a long time, I'm excited for a local place. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind the whole time, speaking both English and Swedish fluently with us throughout our stay. We split the bills seamlessly and went on our way.
Now, I could go into further details about the establishment, but for the sake of brevity, I have to cut it short at some point.
So I'll say this, reiterating what I've already said. Pay Ribs a visit. It is worth your time and money, it's cozy, clean, and a breath of fresh air for this small tight knit community in Ekenäs.
I will be back. Guaranteed. You have something...
Read moreId say if you expect absolutely fall of the bone mega ribs this is not the place for you(they are more on the slow nibble side things ) they where decent no complains at all . But that aside me and girlfreind had an amazing date night something about that place is definitely worth a visit. The service and atmosphere felt very premium when it comes to Ekenäs standards. It's a bit pricey but nothing crazy and if you have never went it's definitely worth a...
Read moreRibs let us down. Being used to "low&slow" Texas style smoked ribs these ribs seemed more of a amateur hour food. Also, the ribs were essentially burned from all edges making 10% of the food uneatable. Essentially you can get better ribs & sides from local supermarket and this is the collective feedback from our group of five people.
Ps. Mayonnaise and sides were just bland and dreadful. No taste, no seasoning.
