Ravintola Apaja — Restaurant in Tampere sub-region

Last saturday we had a little celebration and dined at Apaja. It was my second time at this place, and it surely won't be my last.

The experience at this restaurant is all-encompassing. From the cosy décor, to the professionalism of the staff and last (but certainly not least!) the exceptional food, everything leaves a lasting impression of having had a very special evening.

The ever so kind waiters presented us with revolutionary fusions of ingredients that, on paper, should not even cross paths in the kitchen. But somehow, to the palate it all makes perfect sense. Each bite reveals an explosion of flavours that to describe as exquisite may be an understatement. The superb combination of sweet, sour, and everything in between shakes the taste buds back to life.

And as for the 'noisy' ambience that some have commented on, I honestly didn't even notice! Coming from Italy and living in Spain, the so-called 'noise' here is actually very moderate. After all, restaurants are places where people also go to spend some time together...

Apaja is a statement, a break free from all food conventions and a journey into uncharted territories. It is a treasure that must be discovered, cherished, and never spoiled. Thank you for yet another...

The food was good and the ingredients were of high quality and locally sourced. The waiter was friendly and there is no criticism of his work. The waiting time between meals was far too long and the "flow" of the menu suffered badly. The entire meal took almost 3.5 hours for two people. In addition, the portions are very small, so if you come to the restaurant hungry, it means you will be hungry the entire time. After two hours started to hope that this would be over soon. In addition, the room echoes so badly that it was difficult to hear...

Selailimme Tampereen ravvintoloita ja löysimme sitä kautta Ravintola Apajan. Haluamme kokeilla mahdollisimman erilaisia paikkoja ja kun ravintolaa oli kehuttu paljon, niin illan valinta oli selkeä.

Tänne ei kävele kadulta sattumalla, vaan tänne lähdetään ihan asiakseen. Ravintola on sivussa ydinkeskustasta, mutta kuitenkin helposti saavutettavissa kävellen. Itse paikka sijaitsee kerrostalon takapihalla, kuin huoltorakennuksessa, aivan radan vieressä. Miljöö on siis hyvin erilainen, mutta viehättävä ja jännittävä sellaisenaan. Sisällä on pari huonetta ravintolan käytössä. Tunnelma on intiimi.

Henkilökunta on ystävällistä ja erittäin asiantuntevaa. Tarjolla oli ainoastaan viiden ruokalajin menu, mutta se jotenkin toimi konseptina loistavasti. Ennakkoon ruokalajit kuulostivat ristiriitaisella tavalla perinteisen eksoottisilta, sisältäen mm. kuhaa, haukea, palsternakkaa, lanttua ym. Kannattaa kuitenkin lähteä liikkeelle avoimin mielin, koska...

Jokainen annos tanssitteli makunystyröitä discosta balettiin. Maut nostattivat konkreettisesti hymyn huulille. Aina silloin tällöin tuntuu, että on osunut oikeaan aikaan, oikeaan paikkaan. Nyt kokemuksesta tuli suorastaan siunattu olo. Viinilistakin toimi varsin mukavasti, mutta itse ruoka oli kyllä illan ylivoimainen voittaja.

Suuri suositus tälle kulinaristiselle seikkailulle. Annoksista ei tullut otettua kuvia, koska ei tullut mieleenkään kaivaa puhelinta esille kesken...
