Don't go here. Walk few hundred meters further and go to Ravintola Tampella
Staff did not say Hello and cannot summon a smile to a new customer (such as we were). The person behind us was either a colleague off work or a regular. He got all smiles and courtesy. But yes, why bother paying new customers this sort of courtesy.
Food: Buffala mozarella with fried capers. Some capers would have been fine. The mozarella was drowned in them. If you know capers, you know you don't taste anything other than capers and mozarella has a fine taste so they ruined it. And olive oil is standard for buffala mozarella, and shouldnt need to be pointed out in menu. Ah and when I asked for bread with the mozarella the waitress looked at me like a pig looks at a wristwatch, like that was completely weird request. She said I need to order it. So no bread with mozarella... To be fair, at some point she brought some, realising they are a bit or way out of line, but she brought it so late, it made no difference. So not sure what made her change her mind but it was too little too late.
The meat meze for 24 euros is frankly outrageous. The sausages were the driest stuff I ever ate. Pre-cooked maybe 3 hours ago - completely shriveled and the skin thick as cardboard. The olives are from a pickeled Jar any of us can get from lidl for under 2 €. the cucumber was pickeled, the haloumi was dry. Just terrible, terrible especially for the price.
The fried cauliflower. Now you cannot usually ruin something when you deep fry it. But it came drowned, absolutely drowned in Mayonnaise. You felt like needing to rinse your mouth with two dozen limes and lemons to get the layers off from your taste buds. Really terrible.
Now I know you might think I m being too unkind, but unlike some, my wife and I do not have the luxury to go for diner alone often and when you do, and this is the experience you make, it really hurts. So they deserve this review. They have a nice garden and they think that's all they need but atmosphere is not the decoration but the sum of all. And you ruin the most important part, service and food.
@Service: if you don't like being friendly to people and applying standard courtesy rules that are also not uncommon to Finns, don't work in a restaurant @kitchen: you call that cooking? @management: what...
Read moreFrom outside it doesn't look like it's even opened, but they are until quite late! The bar is concretely a beer bar, where you have different types of (also the smell is well-noticed), but they also make coffees and chocolate (kaakao).
It's quite spacious and they have a lot of tables so you can sit with a normal group (5-10) with no problem. The atmosphere is dark but also chill, and they have the restaurant part in an other room.
There you can find beers, drinks and so I already told. They are quite expensive (about beers) (8-9€), but they are artisan ones so it worths a try! There are also boardgames so you can play together with your friends.
The staff is really nice and helpful. You can pay both ways and it's usually half-full. It...
Read moreThe Sunday brunch has a good variety of options for vegans when it comes to starters and mains. As a dessert lover I was a little bummed that my only option was fruit - a vegan dessert would be something most people with allergies and intolerances could eat (esp gluten free) - would've been a huge plus in my book. There were a few things that would've been easy to make vegan without much hassle (such as smoothies and sweet potato mash), but all in all a good, versitile and delicious selection for all tastes and diets. The poor waiters seemed to be rushing for their life, and understandably, were therefore harder to find for questions and, on occasion, this also showed in their stiff,...
