We stayed here for 12 days. We had a code to enter the building, our floor and our room. Room was clean and compact. Windows didn't open so no way to get fresh air.||2 covered beds/sofas with instructions to convert in to a chair but these were beds and would not convert. ||Our double bed was 2 singles pushed together,||The Hotel is keen on being sustainable, provides a kettle, small fridge and microwave. A few cardboard cups and wooden spoons. A few teabags, sachets of coffee and sugar but no milk.||We knew the room would only be cleaned every 5 days, spare bedding and towels were left on the windowsill. The day I changed the sheets the staff came and changed it again and then again the next day.||Position was fantastic as we were in the town and places of interest were no more than 10-15 mins away. Considering its position it was really quiet at night.||In my opinion, it would have been more sustainable to provide crock cups/mugs and glasses. We went out and bought 2 mugs, plus some cutlery so we could use the microwave and eat.||We regularly lost TV signal and WiFi was intermittent.||The recycling system was quite complicated and it wasn't obvious which materials could be recycled. The main box in the entrance had 4 smaller boxes which were always full so recycling was stacked at the side.||The cleaners were in the block every day but the stairways were not always cleaned. Empty vodka bottles, beer cans and even a dropped kebab spread over 3 levels . We then wondered if the hotel do not clean the lower stairs as that is not part of the hotel.||All these small annoyances were overcome by...
Read moreI actually enjoyed my stay here. The position is 10/10, near the central station. You need to keep your code to enter both the building and the room, but for any emergency or else there's a phone (free of charge) in the hall and a screen to book a room too from the inside. The room I stayed in was quite large, with a view from the inner courtyard. It had 2 beds and 2 more chair/sofas that could be open and turned into beds so it's perfect for large families and groups. It also had a small fridge, a boiler to make yourselves coffee and tea, with cream and sugar, disposab cups and a microwave too. You can get even more info about how this works from the TV, which welcomes you as soon as you turn it on. You just leave your data, passport number and stuff on a piece of paper they give you and you're free to go. One useful thing for travelers is that check-ins and checkouts are quite rigid as for the time. You can check in from 4 pm (unless you've booked an early check-in) whereas you have to leave by 12 am. Your code won't work before 4 pm or any later than 12 am, so be careful with that. Price is quite cool for the position the hotel is placed in. The toilet didn't smell funny to me at least, maybe I was just lucky, the shower was large as well. Cool red decorations all over the place,. You can find tons of restaurants, supermarkets and stores around there, so you won't have troubles looking for food or drinks on your way. Lot of stairs though so it's best to use the elevator, although it seems to be a bit updated. Fair...
Read moreCentral location, just across the street from Stockmann Department Store, and a lot of cafes, shops & restaurants nearby. There are 2 entrances, a smaller one on the street Hameenkatu with a smaller lift, but nearer to the Railway Station, while another bigger entrance is on the street Aleksanterinkatu with a bigger lift. It’s only 3-min walk from Railway Station & 7-min walk from long-distance coach station. Local bus stops are only 100m away.
The size, cleanliness & sound proof of the double room were still ok, but the bed was just next to the door. There were electric kettle, fridge, microwave, instant coffee/tea, but prepare your bowls/plates, etc. There was no wardrobe, but sufficient clothes hangers & hooks. It was a bit smelly on 6/F near the lift, might be due to smoking.
Luckily we did not need much service / assistance from the hotel’s staff during our stay. Somebody vomited at the staircase on 1st floor on our first night, but it was cleaned the next day morning. We appreciated this. Our email enquiries to the hotel were also responded with promptness.
There were no reception & physical staff. The door code would only be valid between check in and check out time, so luggage storage was not possible & we had to use coin lockers at Railway Station.
The hotel can be recommended for 1 or 2-night stay due to its central location when the price is good. Free wifi...
