The Richard Cheese style lounge covers playing when I entered set the tone for my dinner. Although I was alone, the waitress assured me there were no small tables available and seated me at a large table by the window.
I ordered the Hunters Steak Sandwich (24 eur) and when chosing a wine, the waitress asked if I prefer a full or semi-full wine. I guess it has to do with flavor so I resisted the urge to order a "full glass please". An unnamed primitivo (9 eur) was recommended to me and that was that.
The sandwich arrived unceremoniously on a piece of paper, together with fries, ketchup and mayo. The fries, deserving of no other adjective were listed as "home made". Who is actually living in their kitchen and is that up to code? Or does the chef bring them from home? The sogginess of those fries leads me to guess on the second scenario.
I was still missing the wine I ordered and as I went to remind the waitress she apologetically wrapped up her chat session with the other waitresses to pour my glass. Throughout dinner I was staring at three empty smaller tables. It wasnt inconvenient, just weird.
Now the sandwich. Nothing was awful about it although I didnt touch the pickle so I cant vouch for that. In addition to the mayo that arrived as a side, mayo ("aioli") was also the main sauce for the sandwich. In fact, with the pink beef and generous mayo injection between those moist buns it looked like the hunter firmly deflowered this sandwich before it left the kitchen. At this point the lingonberries scattered throughout the dish were just equivocal.
I ordered a double espresso (4 eur) after finishing the hunters sloppy seconds. It arrived blazingly fast and full of coffee grounds (how does that even happen?)
All in all, id say this place falls on the same tangent in the cost-value space as Satama Kebab down the street. Like Turku on the whole, it wont kill you to visit, but it wont change your...
Read moreVery nice location by the river. Food tastes fantastic and dishes has many different flavors. Service is great and they are there for you. Portions are rather small and pricing of the items seems really odd. If you take a moment and think the dishes some are really affortable and some are heavily overpriced. Some part of the world could have problems with pizzas here but they fit places style. They could sound weird but flavors work. Wine selection is vast and they offer trending wines. Warm recommendation unless you are very hungry. Good place to take your missus for dinner and chat long time...
Read moreWe ordered two pizzas and one drink. After around 45 minutes of waiting and seeing other customers that ordered after us getting their food, I went to ask for our order.
I got a reply that the pizzas were almost ready, but I genuinely think that they had completely forgotten about our order. After the pizzas arrived, I asked about the drink which I still hadn't gotten. The waiter was ill-mannered and questioned if we had even bought any drink.
Food was okay-ish, but I'd expect something better with such...
