Forenom Serviced Apartments Turku Kakolanmäki — Hotel in Turku sub-region

TLDR: Newish aparthotel, free parking, contacless everything, quiet place, overall stay ”Scandic level” (without breakfast)||Stayed about a week. We had originally booked a bit shorted stay, but had to make it longer (and that was super easy, just few click on their page and that’s done). Forenom is meant for people working on other city they usually live, so all the rooms have kitchen and washing machine. This Forenom is very quiet, saw only couple of people during our stay. The building used to be mental hospital for inmates in Kakola prison.||Pros:|• newish and very quiet|• nice brick walls|• AC|• free parking|• cheap!|• code lock|• easy to lenghten your stay||Cons:|• our lock ”died” during our stay (luckily one of us was inside!) and it took few hours to get a locksmith fix it. He had to open a box in our roof and it made a bit of a mess - it seemed that Forenoms have every now and then these problems. The staff was sorry on phone, but didn’t offer any refund, extra cleaning or anything.|• cleaning was kind of basic - they should book some time for better cleaning (washing floors) every now and then. Also animal hair on sofa! Hadn’t booked an animal room (but obviously got one)|• location is a bit off and area is evolving, so I hope there will be better walking fasilities in future||All in all, would definately visit again.||Pro tip: if you don’t go to supermarket by car, easiest way is to ride down to river with funicular and then take Föri (ferry) to supermarket on the other side of the river. They’re both free of charge and real Turku...

Nice stay in an interesting building. Quietness was a big plus. Beds too narrow and small which other guests have also pointed out. The parking area outside was very badly damaged with huge potholes in the gravel from the rain which made coming and going in the car bothersome. A quick visit from maintenance would have sorted it quickly. No grocery store conveniently near by that we saw but that's not a major problem. Door handle in the bathroom had no screws and was prone to falling off occasionally, again a small job for maintenance. One window was unable to be opened and the window that you could open was too close to the tv for convenience. Overall it was good and a place I would recommend. Also would recommend a visit to the near by museum to learn about the prison and surrounding...

Lage gut (mit der Standseilbahn ist man in unter 10 min am Wasser bzw. an der Föri - Supermarkt) Sauberkeit naja (Zimmer soweit sauber, Sofa in interessantem Zustand, Besteck und Geschirr schmierig, Geschirrspüler roch unangenehm und war dreckig, auch die Waschmaschine wollten wir aufgrund des Geruchs nicht benutzen und wir mussten sie geschlossen lassen, da der Geruch zu stark war. Hier wäre eine gründlichere Reinigung seitens Forenom wünschenswert) Parkplatz eine Katastrophe. Unzumutbarer Betreiber (s.u.) und keine Parkmarkierungen, wodurch die angegebene Anzahl Parkplätze nicht mal im Ansatz erreicht wird (nächtliche Parkplatzsuche lässt grüßen, wenn man mal länger unterwegs war).

Zum Parkplatz: Der Parkplatzbetreiber Parkkipate betreibt leider ein Geschäft, dass sich nur schwer mit Worten abseits von "Abzocke" beschreiben lässt. Vergisst man einmal den Parkzettel unter der Windschutzscheibe, hat man sofort ein Ticket über 60€ am Auto hängen. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Parkplatzbetreibern sieht sich Parkkipate scheinbar nicht in der Lage, sich bei nachweislich berechtigter Nutzung des Parkplatzes kulant zu zeigen und die Gebühr zu erstatten.
