Bistrot Gourmand — Restaurant in Épinal

I am sure this restaurant is worth a visit and I can guess the kind of experience most clients have but our dinner was honestly one of the worst I had in my life... From service to food, everything was wrong. I had the vegetarian menu with a starter which was ok. Coming to dinner, I basically got a bunch of smashed vegetables, with a plate designed beautifully making you believe that it will be very tasty. But it's not. I honestly struggled to finish my plate since I didn't want my friend who invited us to feel offended but both taste and texture were disgusting. An other friend had cannelloni with fish, which was tasteless. Desserts were average. We had a table upstairs and were the only clients, it felt very empty and staff couldn't see us when we needed something. The lady who served us was cold, polite though, but it didn't help us to forget about the food and enjoy our night. 30 euros per menu was a way too much for...

A few of us decided to go out on the town today to get lunch. After stopping at a bunch of places that were "too full", we were distraught. We eventually made our way over to the Rue du Chapitre, still looking for a place to eat. It ended up being an absolute blessing that all the other places were too full, because otherwise we wouldn't have found this gem of a restaurant! The food was delicious and the service was very good. All of the workers were really nice and the chef did a wonderful job on the food. I'll admit, the portions were "smaller", but I'm American so I'm used to large portions of food. Other than that, I cannot find a single flaw in this restaurant and I highly recommend it to anyone in Epinal. I will definitely...

Well... I may lack some objectivity on this one... I was on a little pilgrimage with regards to my own history... So was hit by a sense of nostalgia. That being said.. we were looking for a nice place for lunch and this place came out on top. Location was superb... And the food was really good! It's generally a good indicator when the place is always packed. Ok.. what made this place over the top was their cheesecake. I'm actually fanatical about cheesecake (being from NYC)... and am most of the time disappointed when trying them out in European restaurants...save... Save...save... For this place !
