La Salicorne — Restaurant in Abbeville

Ault is a great town with some really good food. And amazing cliffs.

This place here is right down at the cliffs by the big plaza and viewing area. Easy to find. It has limited space, so be sure to make a reservation. When we stayed in Ault it was fully booked all four nights.

We had a reservation for the second night and looked forward to it. Feedback online looked great and it was also recommended by our host.

Owner/staff here was really friendly. Took time to explain all the dishes. And there was no rush. We were really able to take our time eating.

First came a complementary Amuse Bouche. Wonderfully fresh mussels. The north has fantastic seafood. And so was this.

Then for a starter we had the goat cheese mousse and the razor clams. Inside the tasty goat cheese were candied (confit) vegetables. Great dish. The razor clams came with a wonderfully fresh herb sauce. The clams as fresh as it gets. Loved it.

For the main we chose the duck breast with a chocolate/cherry sauce. Mashed potatoes on the side. A unique sauce, but matched the duck perfectly. The duck was nice and tender, served as ordered medium-well.

Then the cod. But with caramelized bananas! An unlikely mix. But surprisingly well tasting. A great combination of flavours. Topped with raisins and coriander.

A bottle of nice Bordeaux with that.

For dessert then the Pavlova. Fluffy and fresh. Nice strawberries.

All in all a wonderful night out. Creative dishes, perfectly served. A feast for your eyes and your tongue. It doesn't just have the looks only. The great taste was there as well.

Nice that our Bulldog girl was welcome as well.

But it's not a cheap eat. Came together at around 130 Euros. Of course it's justified. Lots of work and good ingredients. If there's one little minus point, then it's the atmosphere. It's a bit plain, cold inside. Could use a bit more of a charming, warm setting. Besides that a great...

Absolutes Erlebnis und das nicht nur kulinarisch!

Die Gastgeberin ist absolut sympathisch und bezaubernd und erklärt die einzelnen Gänge und Komponenten. Sie ist stets sehr bemüht und das nicht nur in französischer Sprache! Ich selbst kann daher auch die Kritik, dass alles lediglich auf Französisch wäre nicht nachvollziehen. Schließlich ist man in Frankreich und in keiner „Touri-Klitsche“, in der es die Speisekarten in diversen Sprachen bräuchte. Generell habe ich in dieser Region noch keine mehrsprachigen Karten vorgefunden, was noch nie ein Problem darstellte. Die aktuelle Auswahl an Speisen hängt stets auch im Fenster aus, sodass man sie beispielsweise vorab fotografieren kann zwecks Übersetzung. Dies ist jedoch nicht nötig, da die Gastgeberin alles wunderbar erklärt, selbst Sprachbarrieren werden sehr sympathisch umgangen, sodass man keine Hemmungen zu haben braucht.

Aber nun zum eigentlichen: Für meinen Geschmack habe ich hier das beste Essen in meinem Leben zu mir nehmen dürfen. Absolute Geschmacksexplosionen, ordentlich abgeschmeckt, qualitativ sehr hochwertige Zutaten. Man merkt, dass der Koch hier sein Handwerk mehr als versteht. Man genießt wirklich jeden einzelnen Bissen.

Wer einen wundervollen Abend bei bestem Essen in toller Atmosphäre erleben möchte, der ist hier definitiv am richtigen Platz. Eine Reservierung ist zu empfehlen, da es nur wenige Plätze gibt, die verständlicherweise sehr...

Nous avons dîné dans ce petit restaurant d’Ault qui, malgré une façade discrète, mérite vraiment d’être découvert. L’adresse est confidentielle : une dizaine de tables seulement, d’où l’importance de réserver à l’avance.

C’est une véritable expérience gastronomique. À chaque étape – entrée, plat, dessert – trois propositions sont disponibles, auxquelles s’ajoutent un plat et une entrée du jour. La présentation est soignée, servie dans une vaisselle élégante qui met parfaitement les mets en valeur. Les portions sont généreuses, les produits d’une grande fraîcheur, et chaque assiette est agrémentée d’épices et de fleurs comestibles qui apportent originalité et raffinement. Chaque bouchée est une découverte, avec des saveurs subtilement relevées, parfois inspirées de la cuisine asiatique, étonnamment, car le chef n’a ni voyagé ni travaillé en Asie selon ce que nous avons appris.

Le service est à l’image du lieu : chaleureux, souriant, efficace. Une seule personne en salle – une dame admirable – assure avec brio l’accueil et le service, avec une générosité et une bienveillance rares.

Si nous revenons à Ault, charmant bourg en bord de mer, ce sera sans hésiter pour retourner à La Salicorne. Un vrai coup de cœur : nous lui donnons 5/5… et...
