I recently visited this restaurant while traveling and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that we were not welcomed. Despite there being plenty of available seats during lunchtime, they purposely segregated us in a corner because we didn't have a reservation.
To make matters worse, when it was time to order, we were informed that we were not allowed to choose certain dishes. Instead, we had to select from a limited list of main dishes, even though what we wanted to order would have cost the same. This restriction seemed unnecessary and left us feeling frustrated.
As we placed our order, the waitress ended up bringing us an extra dish that we did not request. This mistake could have been forgiven if it weren't for the manager's outrageous behavior. The manager came over and, in an unprofessional manner, screamed at my mother right in her face. His behavior was not only rude but also completely uncalled for.
Unfortunately, the disappointment did not end there. The food we received was of incredibly poor quality. The lettuce was wilted and the salmon was clearly not fresh, leaving a horrible, fishy taste in our mouths. I couldn't bring myself to finish my meal. To add insult to injury, the bread, which is usually a highlight in France, was stale and tasted like it was store-bought.
Furthermore, the prices at this restaurant were extremely overpriced compared to all the other places we visited in the area. It felt like we were paying a premium for a subpar experience.
In contrast, I would highly recommend a nearby spot called Kava. Not only was the food at Kava incredibly fresh and delicious, but the charming vibe and the sweet owner made the experience truly memorable. The prices at Kava were amazing, and their menu offered a variety of options. For the same price as my rotten sandwich at the previous restaurant, I was able to enjoy a hot drink of my choice, a cold drink of my choice, a main dish, and a side dish at Kava. It was one of the best spots I visited in Aix-en-Provence and the South of France.
Save yourself the disappointment and head to Kava instead. You'll be treated to a delightful dining experience with tasty food, friendly service, and...
Read moreGood Food. Good Atmosphere. Service is okay, until my boyfriend found a broken glass while MUNCHING on his food (chicken curry and rice) Told the waiter, he just took the pieces and left. We were expecting that as soon as he gets back he will say sorry or take the bowl away or any further explanation. Unfortunately he did not. We were shocked and as we did not want to make a scene and be labeled as annoying and crazy tourists, my boyfriend just cautiously ate (with his sour feelings over the food that at first he found so good). When we were about to pay, the waiter apologized for it and said “since you ate the food instead of returning it, we will just give you the 3,50 drink for free.” That broken glass could have choked someone, and cause an incident more than 3,50. All I wanted to say is that, the “sorry for the inconvenience” and the “i’ll take back the food for you”, should always be done right after the complaint and not before the customer had to pay. I know that we should have insisted or even told them to take it away, but i really think they should also say something after the complaint. We dont have a say about the taste of the food because it was really good and the atmosphere was quite nice. But this kind of approach to the customer after a complaint is BS. Maybe because we’re just tourists and not locals, but either way i think serving tourists or locals should still be done in a rightful manner. We were not able to take a photo of the broken glasses because the waiter took it and we thought he would have a nice response about...
Read moreHad a mediocre lunch at Colde the other day. It took awhile for the wait staff to clear our table and bring a menu, but not a big deal as it was sunny out and we were on the patio. My husband had a croque monsieur, that ended up being fairly dry and it was served with fries that were only lukewarm when they were brought out. I had the salmon and while it was cooked well and was a large piece, it was quite bland and the finely chopped vegetable salsa on top did nothing to enhance the flavours. It was served with a bowl of white rice topped with the same vegetable salsa (vegetables julienne?) but it wasn't served at the same time as the salmon, and actually came out a few minutes later. The rice tasted like it was overcooked, as it was soft and mushy, and it too was very tasteless.
I would guess that our experience was probably not the norm, as the patio was crowded. However, I would not recommend this restaurant if our meal is an indication of how the rest of the...
