Ofc. Usually I am always a very grateful guest where ever I eat, but at Chalet des Deux Lacs I did had the opportunity to eat, drink or go to toillettete to give any numeric value. First, 6 of us were put to sit at the restaurant and waiter told me to remove myself with the chair, cause I was bothering him while passing which was ofc OK (it is crowded and it is understandable), but the way he ignorantly refused any discussion where to remove myself was in a way: "leave me alone, don't you see I am working, be anywhere else". But ok, I wouldn't mind that part, until the next situation.
we ordered drinks and the next part was food. 2 of us ordered main dish, one girl ordered child menu, and 3 wanted smile bite on which waiter started to discuss how grown up people can not order child menu and we all need to order main dish or we need to leave, cause it is a policy of a restaurant. We asked where is it written on our way in, cause we did not saw it, or why it was not told to us on our way in.... after that the discussion continued in front of a lot of people on how almost every restaurant have the same policy and it is mandatory to eat the main dish or leave....
We agreed with everything and leave the restaurant after one waisted hour sitting for 2 people to prove us some point.
I asked does it happen often, and waiter politely told us it happens every day.
So, advice. If it happens often, put a sign, or on the way in tell people that main dish is a rule to eat at your restaurant.
I can not come back to discuss it in person, cause I was on a vacation and I spent 1 hour of my vacation without drink or food to prove a point: that it does not happen in every restaurant, at least not in this way.
We are not students, we are 30+ year old people and we ate and drink every day in dozens of restaurants, where not all 6 of us ordered everything on the menu.
So, to gain 10 EUR-s more per person should not be always the goal to achieve in a business, cause tomorrow we celebrated occasion where we could chose your restaurant to celebrate almost all day, but we did not, cause it was not a leisure place to went on a holiday, rather a business company.
I am very sry, cause we are going to Val Thorens for more then 10 years now and I can honestly say that I had meals and drinks in almost all of them, but I never in my entire life experienced embarrassments of this kind.
Kind...
Read moreEverything was fine except the transport to the location.
They replaced lovely snowcats (which were used in previous years) by snowmobiles. It is rather cold when driven.
We came to the pick-up location on time, but there were other people before us. They occupied the transport and left. The drivers saw us (as we came close to the snowmobiles), but did not even show any sign that they see us. They did not even try to tell us what is hapenning, how long shall we wait etc. Just hopped in and left leaving us in the middle of nowhere absolutely unattended. It was quite rude. They came only in 15-20 minutes, whereas it was rather cold outside.
Each snowmobile has 6 seats (two behind the driver and four un the trailer). We were a company of 8 and were offered two snowmobiles. My 9 years old daughter took the sit behind the driver, as she wanted to have fantastic experience.
After some time before leaving the driver decided to put two more passengers in front of my daughter - a father with a daughter. Given that there were only two passenger places, whereas the driver put three passengers - my daughter was almost squeezed by a big man in front of her. She could not only see anything, but the man was literally lying on her.
My daughter was very upset by what hapenned. The evening was spoiled.
They charge 15 EUR per person for the transport. For our group of 8 pax I paid 105 EUR (the kid drove free). Quite expensive for a...
Read moreA fabulous New Year’s Eve. Brilliant service from the moment we arrived (delivered up the mountain by skidoo from the main town), and from all the service staff. We never waited more than a few moments for anything we asked for, plus both the manager and his wife found time to come round and spend some time with us. The set menu food was really tasty and the service beautifully paced throughout the evening, consisting of an appetiser, starter, fish course, main course (a beautiful veal en croute), cheese course and then dessert. All complemented by an excellent wine list. Finally, as the music was turned up a little; prompting some dancing, we were all brought a glass of champagne before heading outside to toast in the New Year whilst watching the awesome fireworks display in the village below followed by a second display from the restaurant itself, before a last couple of drinks and then being ferried back to town on the skiddoo. A...
