This wonderful rustic place has exceptional food. Everything is locally sourced and I believe it’s the only restaurant in the region that still has a traditional raclette stand (yes, the coal slowly turns to ash as your chunk of cheese slowly turns into gooey goodness).
The waiters are kind and friendly and you can tell they love the food they serve - I asked for a dessert recommendation and our waiter mentioned the home-made sponge cake which is (shakes hand in air) ooh-la-la. Couldn’t say no to that and I wasn’t dissappointed.
The portions are big and hearty and the food is delicious. You won’t regret coming here.
P.S.: the bathroom soap situation is a bit awkward but it makes for a good bit of fun conversation.
Jokes aside, you can see this restaurant’s heritage through every dish, piece of cutlery, wall and table. Absolutely beautiful and a must visit if you happen to...
Read moreThe place has a very good atmosphere and the food is pretty good, we ordered the fondue, I recommend it! It comes with boiled potatoes, charcuterie and salad. The waiters were nice and helped us choosing what to order. The only thing that we didn’t like, is that we booked a table in advanced and they didn’t sit us in the main dining hall, they put us in a high table which was uncomfortable near the entrance, they said there weren’t other available tables in the main hall but after a few minutes, another group came in and the waiter gave them the “last table” (so in fact there was an available table but they didn’t want us to be there). I think that when you make a reservation in this type of restaurants, they should warn you if there is not a normal table available, for us it was part of the experience to sit in the main dining hall as it had a very...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying this place, the latest offering from Les Peupliers (where we've been gong for over 15 years), especially given other positive reviews. Sadly it was very disappointing, the service was dismal (despite not being very busy), we ordered a bottle of wine, which took over 25 minutes to arrive, and when it did it wasn't the bottle we'd ordered (it had already been opened when dumped on our table). The tartiflette was OK, but had clearly been frozen rather than freshly made, as the outside was piping hot while the middle was cold. The staff even managed to make paying the bill an ordeal. We won't...
