La Cantine Plagne 1800 — Restaurant in Albertville

Don’t bother if you want to eat the same day. Went into this bar as it boasted pizza eat in and take away. We went at 6pm, the place was mostly empty but the pizza oven at the front was running but they told us everything was booked and they couldn’t do a take away until 21:15. For an establishment in La Plagne 1800 ( there aren’t many) you would think that they would meet demand and not turn customers away. Really poor service. Couldn’t rate the food as I would’ve had to wait 3.25 hours to taste it. If you want something then try the sport bar down the road, get a bus into La Plagne Centre or go cook your own from the supermarket next door. This place also stops serving food at 9.30 so if you arrive late on your holiday, give it a miss. You’ll either have to book in advance (weeks) or bring your own. Really...

We visited La Cantine to celebrate a birthday while in the Alps, together with some friends, based on a local recommendation.

Everything about our visit was simply outstanding. Service was fast and friendly. Menu options were broad with a choice for everyone in our group. The food was delicious, some of the best food we have ever eaten, across every plate on the table. Flavours were off the charts. Portion sizes were great. And prices all reasonable as well, considering most places on the mountain add a premium.

And some nice extra touches from the staff to help us celebrate the birthday. All in all, making our visit to La Cantine a highlight of our trip to the Alps, and we can not only highly recommend, but we hope to be able to return again in the future to experience...

Très déçu de mon expérience ici, je ne me suis pas fait respecter dans cette enseigne.

Tout d’abord, j’ai téléphoné pour commander une pizza à emporter et on m’a dit de venir à 21h30. Il faut savoir qu’il faisait très froid, étant en montagne, donc il est tout à fait normal de porter un cache-cou et un bonnet. Visiblement, ce détail n’était pas évident pour tout le monde. À mon arrivée à l’heure convenue, j’ai entendu quelqu’un dire : « Il va braquer quoi, lui ? » d’un air moqueur cela semblait être lié au fait que j’étais vêtu de mon cache-cou et de mon bonnet.

Arrivé à la caisse, le serveur aux cheveux longs et bouclés (toujours le même) m’a dit de manière nonchalante : « C’est ici la caisse, pas là-bas, et je te rajoute 1€ pour le braquage. » Une remarque très déplacée et peu professionnelle. Il aurait dû savoir qu’en montagne, porter un cache-cou et un bonnet est tout à fait normal, mais visiblement, il ne semblait pas être au courant qu’on soit en montagne. Ensuite, on m’a redirigé vers l’endroit où je devais récupérer ma pizza. J’ai quand même remercié le serveur (car la politesse avant tout) et lui ai dit au revoir, mais de son côté, aucun au revoir en retour.

Cependant, je tiens à souligner que le cuisinier est très compétent en cuisine et très poli. C’est pour cela que je laisse 2 étoiles, par respect pour lui et son travail.
