Not Recommended for Asians!

I visited this place wanted to have my lunch during ski day with one of my friend, and as Asians, we were shocked by the discriminatory treatment we received. Despite several empty tables being available, when we were asked how many people were in our party, I answered “2.” The staff named Juliet insisted that we use a table designated for 4 people, and when I explained our situation, they flatly refused to take our order and walked away.

I asked for the manager, Lily, hoping for some resolution, but she simply stated, “this is the rule” and offered no assistance whatsoever. I left feeling rejected and disappointed by the service, which seemed to be based solely on our race.

I recently visited this restaurant, and while the food was okay (we ordered pizzas), I wouldn’t return due to the staff’s behavior. At one point, I went inside to ask for napkins and overheard a waitress shouting and insulting. I don’t speak much French, but as a portuguese speaker I could tell some of the (very agressive) words and I could clearly catch references to foreign tourists in her remarks.

What’s even worse is that I later saw a previous review from an Asian customer mentioning a similar issue. It’s shocking that in such a touristy place and in 2025, things like this still happen. During my recent ski trip to Val d’Isère, I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Le Grand Cocor, located at the Front de Neige in the Résidence Le Grand Cocor. The restaurant offers a delightful blend of Italian and French cuisine, with a menu featuring classics like fondue and raclette, as well as unique dishes that highlight local mountain flavors. 

The ambiance was warm and inviting, providing a cozy retreat after a day on the slopes. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
