During my recent visit to Le Comptoir JOA de Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, I had mixed feelings about the overall experience. While the service was decent, I couldn't help but notice the lack of proactiveness from the staff. They were polite and attentive, but there was a noticeable absence of going the extra mile to ensure a truly exceptional dining experience.
One aspect that immediately caught my attention was the overly bright lighting at the tables. It created an atmosphere that felt more clinical than cozy, detracting from the overall ambiance of the restaurant. It would have been more enjoyable if the lighting had been adjusted to create a more relaxed and intimate setting.
On a positive note, the quality of ingredients used in the dishes was commendable. The freshness and taste of the ingredients were evident, and it was clear that the restaurant prioritized sourcing high-quality produce. However, the disappointment arose when it came to the composition of the dishes. Despite the good ingredients, the execution and combination of flavors fell short. The dishes lacked balance and cohesion, leaving me underwhelmed with the overall taste experience.
Lastly, the dessert options we had were very disappointing. After a lackluster main course, we were hoping for a sweet ending to redeem the meal. Unfortunately, the desserts failed to impress. They lacked creativity and were uninspiring in both presentation and taste. It was a missed opportunity to showcase the culinary skills and creativity of the pastry team.
In conclusion, while Le Comptoir JOA de Bagnoles-de-l'Orne had its merits, such as decent service and good quality ingredients, the lack of proactiveness, overly bright lighting, poor composition of dishes, and disappointing dessert options left me feeling dissatisfied. I hope the restaurant takes these points into consideration and works towards improving the overall dining experience for...
Read moreI can't believe how utterly terrible the French food was in France! I mean, seriously, how is it even possible to cook so poorly in the land of culinary excellence? The tartare was an absolute disaster, the sauce was completely tasteless, and don't even get me started on the abysmal quality of the sides and sauces. It's like they were trying to win an award for ruining perfectly good meat with their pathetic attempts at flavor. And let's talk about the cheese, shall we? Just a random assortment of cheap, supermarket cheeses slapped on a plate. I was utterly disgusted! I expected so much more from the so-called "cheese country."
But wait, it gets worse! I thought I could salvage the meal with a classic French dessert, crème brûlée. Boy, was I wrong! It felt like they squeezed kilos of lemons into that poor excuse for cream. It was a complete disaster! It's as if the chef didn't give a damn about taste or quality at all!
And to top it all off, they had the audacity to charge me 120€ for this culinary catastrophe. It wasn't even worth a measly 1€! I strongly urge you to stay far away from this place. Save your money and buy something from the supermarket instead. Trust me, it'll be a much more satisfying experience than this sorry excuse for...
