Café de la Place — Restaurant in Annecy

We stopped here twice, once for quick drinks while waiting for the bus, and once for lunch after a morning at the beach. The burgers were delicious (using hash browns for buns is a stroke of genius and everything is excellent when smothered in cheese sauce!) and we found a new favorite beer. The reviews saying not to bother if you're American are kind of dumb - they were helpful and patient as long as we tried to communicate using the menu and the limited French we knew! They also let us share the burgers (one adult and one kid per burger + salad was perfect for us), and some restaurants haven't been so...

Alex is great but the bartender/server with light beard in the morning/lunch needs an attitude adjustment. We were tourists and asked if he spoke English. His response was very rude. He goes aren't you in france should you not be speaking french. We travel to many countries and speak 5 languages yet don't 3xpect everyone to speak our language when going through our countries. Guess this guy has not heard of hospitality...

A very nice local Cafe. When they say the burger is famous, it should be. Most seating is outdoors, covered and sheltered from the wind. The servers were very nice, and flexible with language if you speak English (I do but they were patient with my slow French). The service was a little slow but it was a busy lunch time.
