Great views, but otherwise pretty disappointing. This place thinks it is a much better quality restaurant than it currently is. Despite booking (and paying a hefty deposit!) weeks in advance, we were served steaks without a key menu component (no green salads as per menu), and when this was politely questioned the manager was frankly rude about it, asking if we wanted him to go out and pick more salad. We pointed out that they should have told us that they'd run out of salad when we were ordering or offered an alternative. His attitude was appallingly rude. The steaks were overcooked, they didn't bring enough bowls of sauce and potatoes, and the rest of the evening was marred by the attitude of the manager over something they could easily have avoided or fixed. My chicken was frankly pedestrian - I'm an average cook on my best day and routinely produce chicken, jus and risotto better than I was served. By all means go and have a drink on the terrace and enjoy the view for a bit, but I'd avoid eating here. You would get much better food and infinitely better service at almost any of the other restaurants in Annecy. The acoustics are also bad - it wasn't super busy the night we were there but we could barely hear each other over the noise from the kitchen and other tables, and I don't feel that the other diners were especially noisy - just...
Read moreI recently visited this place with an amazing view and great food, but the service was disappointing. Despite being told over the phone that I didn’t need a reservation and could just walk in, we faced issues upon arrival as they insisted on having one. This inconsistency likely contributed to their snooty attitude. When we arrived, the first staff member who greeted us immediately doubted my account of the phone conversation where I was told no reservation was needed because there would be plenty of space. They did find us a table, though not with the best view, which was appreciated. However, on top of the initial confrontation, another staff member was confrontational and questioned my honesty, making us feel unwelcome. I felt like I was in a tribunal rather than a restaurant.
Additionally, their policy of requiring credit card information for reservations, with a $50 charge for cancellations, seems excessive.
While the food and atmosphere were great, their haughty attitude needs significant...
Read moreWe hiked from the old town to get there for lunch with our toddler in a carrier. When we got there we did not feel welcomed. Firstly, they told us that I should have booked for 3 and not 2 (even though our toddler eats the food we carry with us, and in all other restaurants we were always asked to not count him, because he isn’t a consumer, so we should adjust the booking reservation for 2 people only). We were seated in a far corner where the view of the lake wasn’t great, supposedly so that we do not block the passage (there was plenty of space for waiters to pass, to be clear). Also, staff seemed « allergic » to children. We couldn’t wait to eat and leave asap. I think we should’ve put on some dressier clothes (and not hiking outfit and backpacks) and show up without a child. Really disappointed by the experience, especially because I have emailed them in advance asking if they had high chairs, to ensure it is family friendly, to which they answered « yes »....
