L' Envol is as good as a restaurant can possibly be. The service is exceptionally warm, welcoming and dedicated, yet perfectly professional. Everything is extremely sophisticated, but still is, and feels, like a small family restaurant. Every detail clearly gets paid great attention to; Knives have been sharpened, tap water tastes like it is either bottled water or has been purified, and glasses and dishes sparkling clean. There is also extraoridinary talent and passion in the kitchen, delivering creative amuse-bouche's, stunningly beautiful and delicious dishes, and brilliant desserts. I could hardly believe the lady when she said that the kitchen is a one-man-show, because you would be hard pressed to find another chef with such an incredible savoir-faire across such a range of techniques - I'm still fairly certain they are hiding michelin starred head and pastry chefs somewhere.

My wife and I ordered the daily lunch special for a very reasonable 16 Euros which included slow cooked boneless pork ribs with a side of polenta and zucchini. The pork was exceptionally tender and was accompanied by a brown sauce which I am sure was made with the pan drippings and was also very delicious. My wife enjoyed her aperitif de la maison and I the house rose wine which were excellent. The included dessert was a deconstructed tarte tatin with salted caramel ice cream which was very creative and tasty. A lovely room (and outside, too, when it is warm); a friendly, relaxed welcome; a menu that limits choices to those made with the freshest seasonal ingredients of the day; and dishes that reflect the chef’s passion to attenuate and complement the flavours of those ingredients. A wine list that covers the bases — especially for local wines — and attentive service that makes you almost feel you’re the home guests of close friends.
