In two words: ZERO STAR!
We were the second guests after opening. The hostess/owner looked at us very strange and unwelcoming while entering. After three times of calling her and 45 minutes of waiting we decided to leave. We were over and over told by her to wait, meanwhile she was attending everyone else. While leaving, my now husband and her crossed paths while I was following. She was immediately looking for excuses and stumbling some words but he overruled her in French and told her that her horrible service and treatment made us leave. The first guests, a couple who entered before us, were utterly surprised by the treatment we had been experiencing. Because while leaving and passing their table the lady hold my hand and gave me some consoling words. This was an obvious experience of being negatively judged because of our interracial relationship!
I have posted this until now, because I want the world to know that we need to unite. We need to bless eachother and not curse...
Read moreThis is a very small, fine-dining establishment. Very elegant food in an intimate space of 2 cave-like rooms typical of the village and the Luberon. The food is original, yet based on classic Provencal dishes and flavours. Superbly prepared and presented and almost always distinctly flavoured, esp the amuses bouches. Always a choice of meats and seafood. A very fine, if small, wine selection of beautiful Luberon and Rhone Valley wines. The service is almost entirely provided by one of the owners, a charming and helpful woman (who also speaks English well). The chef comes around at the end of the evening to greet his guests. Very personable, and very much of its place: a Ménerbes village gem, which frankly, is rather less known than it should be, but that's also a blessing. Down a small side street, and all seating is indoors (but air-conditioned) and cosy! Very highly...
Read moreLove this restaurant. We came last year and it was our favorite meal of the trip. This year we will be visiting 2 times! The on-line booking is nice to have, as it saves me trying to make reservations in French :) The owners are a lovely couple that seem to run the entire operation by themselves. The food is sublime and the atmosphere is so romantic. You can’t park inside the beautiful village of Menerbes, but the parking lot is fairly close and easy to find at the entrance of the village. The interior of the restaurant is hallowed out of a cave, that must be hundreds of years old. It is a super charming and historical atmosphere. I almost hesitate to recommend it, as it’s a secret treasure and definitely the best restaurant in the area. Make reservations, as it is a small restaurant and fills up quickly. ...
