Café Le Genève — Restaurant in Argelès-Gazost

It was cold and wet in Lourdes when we visited this morning for a healing ceremony. On our way back to the car it started raining heavily so we ducked into the Bar Brasserie Le Geneve to have an early lunch, hoping the rain would stop. There were few other customers at 1100 am so we got great service from a waiter who spoke excellent English (and six other languages). The menu was written in English (see attached photos). We both chose French Onion Soup to warm our insides, then my wife had spaghetti Bolognese and I had sausage and fries. The (home made) soup was great and the entrees were serviceable for our hunger, hence the five stars. We drank coffee, tea and sparkling water and the bill for two was a reasonable 40.70 Euros. 3/5 – Good food, but disappointing service

We arrived at La Geneve when it was fairly quiet, with plenty of empty tables, and were initially pleased with the friendly service. We asked for a table for five, but one member of our group decided not to stay, and our two children weren’t ready to eat, so only my wife and I ordered mains and a glass of wine.

While the meals were quite good and reasonably priced, the mood quickly shifted. The waitress became visibly irritated that only two meals were ordered, and unfortunately, the service never recovered from that point. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which took away from what could have been a lovely meal.

Pizza was quite good but the waiter was unkind when we ordered two pizzas for 5 people familly (3 kids) he laughet at us and without any reason he just not gave us any knife or fork (but our friends who ordered the same have been given with those without asking) and he didn't give us souses (and again our friends got them).
