Le Saïgon — Restaurant in Arles

The owner / waiter / chef from this establishment was evidently the mentor of Basil Faulty from the UK hit show Faulty Towers.

We went on a Saturday night about 9pm and asked for a table for 4 people. Asked for a couple of beers, told with force that there was no beer only wine! I then proceeded to ask our party if they would prefer red or white and was very abruptly told ‘Only Rose’! So we had a bottle of rose which was like Vinger. We then looked at the menu, which was vast, however was told only food was the set menu at 12 euros per person. We asked for a couple of minutes to consider and when he came bac we had not decided and asked for a couple more minutes to which he replied ‘why do you need more time?!’ He huffed and puffed and walked away... he then started to speak about us to another couple on the table next to ours, however our party could Speak French so could understand him. We decided to leave and not order any food and requested the bill to which he looked dismayed as to why we where leaving, huffing and puffing again and shaking his head.

In summary, horrible man, no choice, no manners, service was awful too. We didn’t eat, however have been told the food is awful too. Glad we didn’t stay and I hope that this helps someone...

Sans faire les français capricieux, nous sommes arrivés à 2 pour 18h30 on s'est fait envoyer bouler en nous disant 19h. Nous sommes revenus à 19h pile, avec petite réflexion du patron soulignant le fait qu'on était pas en retard et qu'eux n'étaient pas prêts. (ils ne devaient attendre personne de la soirée)

Le choix des boissons fut extrêmement simple on nous a dit soit de l'eau soit du vin.. Pour nous sortir une bouteille en plastique d'eau tiède achetée à lidl la fameuse "Mont Roucous".

Après commande des plats nous avons eu le temps d'observer la poussière ambiante et après avoir reçu le plat de résistance où se trouvait un cheveu (ils ne nous l'ont pas facturé heureusement), nous sommes partis sur notre faim, et pas rassurés pour notre intestin. L'ayant fait remarqué au patron, celui ci s'est adouci.

La cuisine n'est pas mauvaise mais le cadre et l'ambiance sont... Particuliers on va dire. Bruit de clim hyper fort incessant, certains plats ou aliments réchauffés au micro-ondes.

C'est la première fois que je mange dans ce restaurant, sûrement la dernière fois.

Der Kellner, wahrscheinlich der Besitzer, benimmt sich extrem unfreundlich und unprofessionell: Begrüssung: keine Sitzplatz: wir sollen woanders sitzen, obwohl das Restaurant 3/4 leer ist. Frage: Gibt es eine Vorspeise mit Gemüse? NON! Ich sitze mit übereinander geschlagenen Beinen am Tisch. Der Kellner sagt, ich solle mich anders hinsetzen, es störe ihn. "Was wollen Sie trinken?" Gerne zwei Glas Wein. "Gibt es nicht, nur Flaschen! Bezahlen: Es gibt keine Rechnung Zum Essen hat meine Frau Wasser bestellt. Da sie die 0.75 Flasche nicht fertig getrunken hat, möchte sie diese mitnehmen. Der Kellner reisst diese an sich und sagt, das gehe so nicht! FAZIT: DIE MIT ABSTAND SCHLECHTESTE BEDIENUNG IN 50 JAHREN...
