Assiette au boeuf — Restaurant in Arras

This was our firat time visiting France and we decided to eat at this restaurant due to the many great reviews. Everything was fine until the waitress came to take our order. The blond young woman working at around 21.15 on wednesday, August 30th, was clearly against tourists. After appoligizing for not knowing french, the whole interaction was about 10 seconds of the waitress waving her hands around, rolling her eyes and shouting at us in french before sighing loudly and storming off. I have actually never felt less welcome at an establishment and having worked with service half my life I never thought someone working in service could be so incredibly rude and hostile.

I do not recommend this place if you don't...

Underwelmed. Chose to have dinner here based on reviews. Not sure if it was because we are English, or because we have children with us or just a bad day but the service was not overly welcoming despite not being busy. A few smiles thrown in and it would have been better. Had the beef paridise, adults and child portion and the child's burger. The steaks and burger were good and the sauce very tasty. Have to say it's their special and not a huge amount else available on the menu and is really just a very clever marketing strategy. It's steak chips and a sauce, that is not much better than most places you can get steak, chips and sauce from. Not sure what I expected really, not dissatisfied, but...

Amazing...we had a lovely meal, we had their special steak meal. We had the smoked salmon and the fois grais with our salad which was lovely. The steak was medium rare and just so tender and tasty with crispy french fries and the amazing sauce. We were drinking a bottle of cote de Rhone which was very smooth. We had deserts of Rum Baba and Raspberry and white chocolate ice cream desert both of which were delicious. The service was good, the waiter was attentive, with a great personality.
