If I had been taken to this restaurant in a blind fold, sat down and blindfold removed, then asked what type of restaurant I was in, I would have struggled to say what it was. It was obviously decorated to a good standard, just bland. Little or no clues as to it being an Indian. Even the music playing in the background had a definite bass and was pop music.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Between 2 of us to share we ordered 1 starter, 2 side dishes, 1 main meal, 1 rice, 1 garlic naan, 1 bottle of water and 1 lassi.
The plates were big but the portions were on the small side. Flavours were OK but not outstanding.
When the bill came it was 58 euros which we thought was expensive but put it down to the high end gastro vibe. We paid the bill and left.
It was only later that we studied the bill to see the items we ordered came to 29 euros before which it said One Cover.
Underneath the final total said Two Cover...58 euros!!
Either they made a bad mistake with the bill or they really do double the bill for 2 people.
I have visited many Indian restaurants in my life and I am afraid on this occasion this restaurant did not do very well.
I will not return or...
Read moreGood descent food but very expensive for the quantity, and you have to order rice to go with your dish as it doesn’t come with it. Never seen that in all the hundreds of Indian restaurants I’ve gone to in the world. All that only makes it 3 stars.
The side rice was very small and had nothing Indian about it, just regular unseasoned white rice with peas, 3€ very expensive for a tiny bowl half empty. I ordered the Chicken Korma, good but very small quantity. My friend ordered the Chicken Palak, same good but very expensive for the quantity.
Ordered the cheese naan, 4,50€ for it, couldn’t believe it.
They didn’t even have the regular little side dishes, the different sauces, the spicy little veggie they always offer at Indian restaurants.
Overall I didn’t feel like I just ate Indian food. Can’t believe you find Indian restaurant that expensive in Auxerre.
Friendly staff and quick service, modern design inside the restaurant comparing the other Indian restaurants,...
Read moreWhile I applaud this establishment’s attempt at serving what is assumed to be “modern Indian” in a clean, attractive space…the accolades end there. I don’t care how good your homemade dishes claim to be by other reviewers (they aren’t), there’s just no greater insult than serving poor rice. If an Indian restaurant can’t manage to serve its greatest National dish…delicious, fresh, aromatic, unadorned rice…how can the be trusted to serve anything “authentic”? There’s nothing more insulting to either a diner or the cooks’ countrymen than serving stale rice, undercooked or dried out (I’m not sure which) with a distinct dishwater taste. No excuse can suffice though I don’t doubt they will try. Empty words upon deaf ears that will sadly...
