Me and my partner visited this place couple weeks ago while staying in Avignon. The place had well selected menu which was very well priced considering its a Michelin star restaurant. The stuff was well trained, topping up the water and bringing bread throughout the whole dining. I had a foie gras and my partner had crab dish, both super tasty! The main course was super special, we both had monk fish with chorizo and it was absolutely amazing. Both agreed it was probably the best fish dish we ever tried! For desert I had cheese platter and my partner had chocolate mousse. We also got recommendation to pair desert wine with it and both wines were really well selected by the staff. However considering we were in France and also in a good restaurant, I did expected a better selected and presented selection of cheese in my opinion. All cheese were quite blunt and very similar in taste. To add this up, it was served with bread, which we got served for starter for main course and also for desert....I would like to think the cheese platter would have a blue cheese as one of the types, served with oat cakes or any type of crackers...Maybe frozen grapes? The platter was a bit of a let down, however could be simply modified and improved;) Also would be amazing to see that the restaurant make a simple swap and serve their drinks with paper straws rather then plastic. Overall we had...
Read moreDecent foods but average service to a solo diner. I was given a corner table even though I have booked in advance and arrived early for dinner and the place was still empty. I also had to wait 15 mins just to get the bill because apparently the staff are too busy serving other crowded tables and didn’t have the time to let me pay (I ate alone and only had 2 items on the bill). I have been to other restaurants which were as busy and as crowded but never felt neglected like this. Foods are OK. I had the haddock and it was nice but not super impressive. I may be too disappointed by the overall experience because fine dining shouldn’t be just about the foods. The staff who in the end let me pay at the bar counter was apologetic, but it was too late. I had enough time to write a full review while waiting for them to take the...
Read moreThe food looked good, but didn’t quite live up to expectations for a Michelin star restaurant. The price was reasonable for the quality, though.
My biggest complaint is the service. I know there are different expectations in Europe than the USA, and we typically haven’t had issues asking for what we need when the server isn’t coming over proactively. However, we had a reservation but waited close to 30 minutes for someone to come over and take drink orders. We ordered coffee after the meal, and never received it. When we gave up waiting after another 30 minutes, we asked the server three times to bring the check. She never did, so we asked to pay with the host on the way out.
I try not to read too much into these things when traveling, but it really felt like we were being snubbed, and I won’t be...
