Monsieur Tu L’isle sur la Sorgue — Restaurant in Avignon

Despite a confirmed reservation and a €50 deposit, we arrived exactly on time… only to wait another fifteen minutes before being seated. 😡 The staff handle everything, greeting, serving, billing, and clearing tables, which appears to be the establishment’s biggest weakness… or perhaps an intentional choice. 🤔

Once seated, we were promptly handed the drinks menu, but had to wait another fifteen minutes to see the food menu. 😡 A well-rehearsed tactic: get guests ordering drinks before they even know what they’ll be eating. Bottom line: we booked for 1:30 PM, and our first dish didn’t arrive until 2:15. 😡

Pricing is in line with other places in the area, not overpriced, but not particularly competitive either. The food itself was excellent, but the portions were disappointingly small.

We booked this restaurant based on prior reviews. We were totally disappointed. While the location is good and it is lovely sitting on the river, the service was the worst I ever experienced. We were given drinks menus as soon as we sat down. We had to ask 3 times and wait 1/2 hour to see the food menu. The food menu was very disappointing. Not a single salad and no vegetarian main courses. The waitress finally came over to take our order but we had to wait another 1/2 hour to be served. We have been travelling southern France for two weeks now and our expectation of high quality French food has been thwarted, except here. The tuna (as a main) was brilliantly cooked, it was served with two types of orange and a subtle selection of vegetables. The different tastes were easy to distinguish and worked amazingly well together. The pork was cooked to perfection with a smokey taste. It was presented with a subtle pesto on a carrot cream.
