An Unforgettable Evening of Laughter and Delight at the Foot of Mont Saint-Michel
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming French fish restaurant nestled right next to the iconic Mont Saint-Michel, and it turned out to be an evening filled with laughter, delicious seafood, and exceptional hospitality.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the ambiance was warm and inviting, offering a perfect blend of rustic charm and coastal elegance. The view of Mont Saint-Michel in the background added a touch of magic to the entire experience.
My two brothers and I were in for an absolute treat as we embarked on a culinary journey that revolved around the finest seafood. The flavors of the ocean came alive on our plates, each dish a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to showcasing the best of the region's bounty. The standout, of course, was the fresh fish that practically melted in our mouths, leaving a lasting impression of flavor and quality.
What truly set this evening apart was the genuine laughter that echoed throughout the restaurant. My brothers and I shared countless anecdotes and jokes, making it one of the funniest nights we've had in a long time. The lively atmosphere was undoubtedly enhanced by the wonderful staff who seemed to genuinely enjoy their work, contributing to the jovial atmosphere.
Speaking of the staff, a special mention must go to the restaurant manager. Not only did he ensure our evening was filled with merriment, but he went above and beyond by offering to drive us home when he realized we had indulged in some excellent bottles of French champagne and red wine. His thoughtfulness and commitment to our safety were greatly appreciated and left us with a deep sense of gratitude.
In conclusion, my visit to this French fish restaurant near Mont Saint-Michel was an evening to remember. From the delectable seafood and fine wines to the joyous laughter and exceptional hospitality, it was an experience that encapsulated the essence of a perfect night out. If you're looking for a place that combines gourmet seafood, breathtaking views, and the opportunity to create lasting memories, this restaurant should undoubtedly be at the top of your list.
I must also extend a sincere apology for an unfortunate incident. As we made our way home, we realized that we had lost the flaschenöffner (bottle opener) that we had borrowed from the restaurant. It was truly unintentional, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may...
Read moreOn our way to Rennes we decided to stop overnight in Mont St Michel. 20 years back we had stayed at the mère Poulard hotel located inside the Mont St Michel but with new requirement to park and take shuttle as well as having big luggage we decided to stay at the relais which is conveniently located across the bay. It was a great choice as the location is breathtaking, overseeing the Mont, especially at sunrise the next morning when the Mont was surrounded by a small fog at its feet creating fairy experience. To access the hotel by car you need to follow the sign for bus and parking for disabled people. Do not use Waze or Google map as they will send you to the wrong place. You also need to call the hotel less than 24 hours prior your arrival to get the gate’s access code. There is a shuttle stop right across the hotel entrance, making it easy to visit the mont. Our room was the superior double room with mt st m view. Both the hotel public area and our room have shown better time. It is a bit sad as there is a lot of potential. The pluses: perfect location. Amazing view. Easy access to shuttle. Good coffee maker. The minuses: The hotel has no charm whatsoever. Everything looks Dated and not well kept with some Moldy grouts and broken tiles in bathroom Breakfast was included in the room price. Buffet style. Mostly cold options aside scrambled eggs. Service was good and people were nice both at lobby and restaurant. All in all we enjoyed our stay for one day but wouldn’t stay any longer.
Restaurant ——————-
We ate at the hotel’s restaurant for dinner. There is a huge bay of windows overlooking the mont. However at night the village and Abhay are not light up so we could not enjoy much of the view. Could have been because it is winter and they light it up during tourist season. There was couple menu options. We picked the one at 29.99 but there is another cheaper option at 19.99. Service went smoothly with efficiency. We took a bottle of croze hermitage wine which was good. Food was ok but not great: fish soup and lamb or veal which was tough. My wife took the omelet prepared following mère Poulard recipe which was good. For dessert i took the sorbet and my wife the apple tart which were both good. Restaurant looked dated right off the seventies, room felt very much like a business meeting hall which lacked charm. It is sad as there is a lot of potential to make it a much...
