I have visited several restaurants in Béziers for both lunch and dinner during my holiday, and unfortunately, this was the most disappointing experience.
We chose to come here because of the great Google review rating, but sadly, our experience did not reflect that.
The place felt overrated, the food was of average quality, and the service left much to be desired. As we do not speak French, it was felt that we were not treated as warmly as other guests. We had requested to sit indoors, but the waitress appeared unwilling to accommodate us. It was only when another waiter, who seemed to be the manager, said it was okay for us to sit inside that we were finally shown to a table indoors.
Although the waiter made an effort to assist us in English, the initial impression left by the waitress was far from welcoming. When I first inquired about the menu, I was told by the waitress that the set lunch included a choice of starter, main, and dessert, and we can choose each one from the list. However, when the waiter arrived, we were informed that the main course was fixed for the day. This inconsistency was disappointing.
We had only just sat down and were still trying to translate the menu when the waitress began to pressure us to order drinks. I had to explain that we needed more time, but the feeling of being rushed made the experience uncomfortable. There were a few empty table while we were being pushed.
Given the price, a more considerate level of service and better food quality were expected. Sadly, this turned out to be the final meal of our trip and one that is deeply regretted.
If you're looking for food that is visually appealing and well-presented, perfect for social media, this may be a suitable place. However, if your priority is good quality food at a reasonable price, there are certainly better options to be found easily in the...
Read moreVery nice restaurant located in a side street to the allées Riquet, close to the theatre. The restaurant has a nice terrace on a small pedestrian street. Service is friendly and helpful, promotion of local produce is made when presenting the menu. During the evening the 'bistronomique' menu is suggested for 38€ for a starter, main and desert. If wished for a few euros more cheese can be added (or replace the desert). The menu is short but contains a diverse selection of starters, mains and deserts. It also has a choice of tapas and burgers if wanted. As starter we chose the tuna cevice and the burratina. Both were simple, fresh and tasty. For mains we chose the chicken milanese and a black burger. I would say that the chicken was the better choice as although the burger was nice with freshly minced meat it lacked a bit of flavour. Also the chips turned out to be more crumbs and bits than proper chips (sorry used to belgian chips). Desert choices were a chocolate fondant with salty caramel which was superb and what was supposed to be a pavlova but turned out to be 3 pieces of meringue with a zesty cream with strawberries (here also sorry but my Australian mum made pavlova and this was not it). All in all though a very nice meal, well prepared, nicely presented with...
Read moreL'Orangerie was recomended to us by our Booking host and it did not dissapoint. We made a point of having a look at the menu online in English which was good as French is spoken here... which added to the fun as I tried out mine ( terrible) with our very friendly and patient server. His advice on wine was spot on by the way. My wife absolutely loved her scallops which are as fresh as they can be as this is a real seafood town. The foie was good and I thought " the perfect egg " stater superb. My steak was on the chewy side as they often are in France but their very nice take on pepper sauce helped it on its way. Their take on tarte tartin was a bit dry for my taste as I prefer a more traditional buttery texture but once again my wife very much enjoyed hers. This would be a very nice choice in this cute little town: Well...
