We stumbled onto this lovely seaside restaurant overlooking a fleet of fishing boats by following our noses. We had spent the day touring the museums and historic monuments of Normandy and D-day. Specifically, we found this gem after we finished our day at Point du Hoc. We were FAMISHED. And cranky. I thought, it’s next to the docks, it has to be good. We were immediately seated despite no reservation and speaking in broken Fran-glish. No English menu was available nor did the staff speak English. We resolved to simply order and enjoy! And wow, did we! The food was excellent. We ordered off their nightly “terroir” offerings and got an appetizer and a main course for 20€ each. My husband got the Shrimp and catch of the day, I got the lamb and chicken. We also ordered 2 of the regional cocktails (calvados with champagne) as well as 3 glasses of wine total. Oh, and the delicious chocolate mousse and strawberries with cream for dessert. Our bill was 68€ total! I can’t recommend this highly enough. If you are looking for a nice village to stay during your normandie tourism, Grandcamp-Maisy is perfect. There is also a carrefour nearby (2 mins by car). Seafood here is incredibly fresh and prepared wonderfully! Staff is so so friendly. I do imagine you might need a reservation if you come in...

We visited this restaurant on a Monday. It was a busy night with a full house of seated guests. Naturally the staff was stressed. Nevertheless, there was no menu in English available. Personally, I find that strange, in an area which has so much history with US, Canada and Britain. There are scores of English speaking tourists visiting, and to not offer a menu in English seems... well arrogant. Our waitress didn't speak English either (which is more understandable), but when we tried to get her to fetch someone who could explain the menu, she just left. Pretty rude. The food was good quality, but the service left us wanting. The house wine was ok. Obviously the staff was in a hurry to get home, because they already had their coats on when we wanted to pay (and we weren't even the last ones). That added to us feeling pretty much unwelcome...

We had been to this restaurant before and were impressed by the food. This time however, though the food was still good (not as good as the first time, maybe marred by the atmosphere..) the service was appalling! The waitress wore VERY skimpy shorts, revealing more than it should have done and seemed displeased when we asked if we could change table as the sun came directly in our eyes. We had to wait for 25 minutes for our empty plates to be removed though she was walking past quite a number of time with empty hands and avoiding looking at us. We would expect a higher level of service from such a restaurant. I gave two stars as the food was ok, but they have lost a regular customer and we have shared this information with all our friends who were intending to go there for a meal. maybe the owner could have a word with...

My wife and I had lunch here today just by happenstance and was this a great find! Let me just say the food was very very good and the presentation was beautiful. We speak little French but the staff was very helpful and guided us through the menu. The starters were as good and unique as I have ever had. I had the chilled bulots between lengths of cucumber and my wife had the oysters grilled with leaks and camembert cheese. For the main course I had the cod on black risotto, and my wife had the sea bass with leaks. Both were prepared perfectly. Then we had the desert and while I was happy with mine, my wife’s strawberry desert was ‘over the top’. The place was very busy so plan on getting there early.

Definite tourist trap and not at all worth the money. We felt very pressured when placing our order, and the server tried to get us to take something else more expensive. They weren't clear about the size of the portions when we asked because we were planning to split the small seafood platters (see photo) among the four of us, but our server said that a large platter probably wouldn't be enough for an adult. We got our teenagers the shrimp platter. It was basically a plate full of shrimp and nothing else, no little salad garnish or anything. We got a small basket of bread and 4 pots of various dipping sauces. Basically a lot of messy work for very little reward.

Nice place in a small town... unusual for Normandy this is much more a fishing port than a landing beach town and the menu shows it. Lots of fish on the menu. I had the crispy beef which was somewhat surreal and delicious. I don't eat shellfish but EVERYONE else that night had the local seafood appetizer which looked like cockles (sea snails) half shelled oysters and langostines maybe. Looked delicious but not for me. Service excellent ... and a nice tray of free Madeleines on the bar while we paid. Owner i guess or manager and really everyone seemed so happy and friendly.
