Update review.: I returned with a larger party, we all agreed that the food was excellent, absolutelytop notch. The piano player was absent so we could talk amongst ourselves. There were only two things that marred the experience, It was very warm in the restaurant and there was no ventilation or air conditioning, and the service was extremely slow. However we didn't mind the service so much as we enjoyed chatting.
Orriginal review: The starter was excellent. We both enjoyed the beef very much. The main dish was very disappointing. It was a shared dish for two people. The octopus was overcooked and very tough. There was one small potato cut in half and one small carrot each and just one leaf on the plate. My friend enjoyed her dessert very much. Our table was positioned by the back door and I was bumped serval times as people walked by. My friend had a very comfortable chair, large made of wood and velvet. I had a smaller plastic chair that was les comfortable. I think there are many different sorts of chairs and you just have to be lucky to get a good one. There was a live music from a piano player. He was okay. There were plenty of servers and they got the food to the table quickly, however they didn't ever check to see if anything was good until we were paying the bill. The water glasses ran out quickly and we didn't manage to get them refilled.
Overall there is a lot of potential in this restaurant with an interesting menu and a stunning location, unfortunately on this occasion, that potential was not forfilled we walked away disappointed. As the summer season starts i look forward to trying this restaurant again and seeing if they manage to achieve value for the cost...
Read moreWonderful food and friendly staff. Great location overlooking the river with a stylish and modern interior design. We had a family meal for 8 with ages 13 to 79. Everyone was delighted with the whole experience and we looking forward to returning. A speciality of the restaurant are sharing plates, for example four of us shared the beef main course which was stunning. Starters had plenty of options and all ordered got great reviews. Chocolate deserts went down and storm. Well worth a trip out from Bergerac for...
