I did my booking through google which gives the available time slots predetermined. I chose the 13:00 slot and was cancelled by the restaurant without any explanation. When I finally managed to call them I was told the time selected wouldn’t allow sufficient time to eat since they were closing at 14 🤨. The food was really good in a fixed menu with few options. I mentioned in the reservation that we were going with two children AND we had one birthday at the group party. There were practically no alternatives to the menu that would be suitable for children. I also asked for a small cake to celebrate the birthday (as it was indicated as a possibility on the reservation menu) on the day, they casually mentioned it was not possible and just planted a small candle on the dessert. Overall the experience was good, the menu is a bit short (although great food) and I had the feeling the people was more interested in closing than providing...
Read moreIn a touristic, quaint city like Blois, it can be difficult to avoid tourist traps. Suffice it to say: this restaurant is the very opposite.
The food puts the chef's mastery of his craft on full display. The mushroom soup was a favourite of myself and my family with a rich, creamy flavour and highly tasteful toppings. The main course of veal steak is done to perfection, not to mention the delectable sauce. Finally, the peanut ice cream is a delightful treat to top off the meal.
The hosts excelled at creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the food to its fullest, making for the ideal dining-out experience for families such as us. In addition, they speak English fluently, welcoming foreign tourists while offering authentic French cuisine.
To sum it up: this is an incredible restaurant full of life and atmosphere with excellent food! I simply must...
Read moreThe food was mediocre. The starters were very standard, and the gazpacho was just fine (not awesome) while the escargot were delicious. We had beef (not so great, overcooked - the waiter asked us for a temperature and it was cooked well over the temperature we asked for: well vs medium rare), and the other main dish was the duck, and the duck was very good. Both desserts were disappointing. The panna cotta was split and the other desserts were sub par. For the price paid, we would expect more. The service was excellent, and we loved the staff there. The people behind us - the man kept coughing and sneezing, leaving the restaurant at one point. He came back, kept coughing/ sneezing and basically drove us out - not pleasant to be around in these post (still going!) Covid times. Overall, disappointing for our fifth wedding...
