My family and I had thought that a place so busy would deliver good honest food and atmosphere but this place disappointed throughout.
But avoid, just avoid, go eat in one of those strange French chinese restaurants instead!
I know that we had a crying toddler but there were other families eating there so I don't understand why the restaurant manager acted like I called his mother something bad.
I'm being picky by mentioning this but why were the only beers were Carlsberg (?!), Kronenberg and Leffe?
In any case the one star is for the food alone:
the starter of filled mushrooms was cold, without flavour and tiny (three cold small mushrooms filled with a teaspoon of grey filling). My wife's foie grasnwas nice so my mushrooms felt like an insult (to mushrooms as well as me);
the main disgrace was the entrecote steak or Comptoir's stringy, old, grisly excuse for beef. My jaw hurt from the hours of chewing needed. Easily the worst steak I've ever had (even worse than Spanish beef);
finally the Rum Baba was more than a mere failure. It was a sad, depressing end to a rubbish meal. It was dry (!!) on the inside. Seriously, the whole thing is supposed to be soaked in syrup so how did they get it dry? They had the gall to say it was a house speciality...
In all the whole meal was ÂŁ70. Money utterly wasted. Go for a glass of wine but...
