Le Comptoir de Paris — Restaurant in Bourges

My family and I had thought that a place so busy would deliver good honest food and atmosphere but this place disappointed throughout.

But avoid, just avoid, go eat in one of those strange French chinese restaurants instead!

I know that we had a crying toddler but there were other families eating there so I don't understand why the restaurant manager acted like I called his mother something bad.

I'm being picky by mentioning this but why were the only beers were Carlsberg (?!), Kronenberg and Leffe?

In any case the one star is for the food alone:

the starter of filled mushrooms was cold, without flavour and tiny (three cold small mushrooms filled with a teaspoon of grey filling). My wife's foie grasnwas nice so my mushrooms felt like an insult (to mushrooms as well as me);

the main disgrace was the entrecote steak or Comptoir's stringy, old, grisly excuse for beef. My jaw hurt from the hours of chewing needed. Easily the worst steak I've ever had (even worse than Spanish beef);

finally the Rum Baba was more than a mere failure. It was a sad, depressing end to a rubbish meal. It was dry (!!) on the inside. Seriously, the whole thing is supposed to be soaked in syrup so how did they get it dry? They had the gall to say it was a house speciality...

In all the whole meal was £70. Money utterly wasted. Go for a glass of wine but...

Accueil misérable avec la serveuse aux cheveux colorés : résultat, des clients de perdus à peine au pas de la porte. Nous nous sommes faits clairement accueillir comme des malpropres avec mon compagnon : nous nous apprêtions à nous installer sur une table en terrasse non indiquée comme réservée, cependant la serveuse nous a indiqué avec mépris que celle-ci était réservée sans nous inviter à patienter pour nous indiquer une autre table. Elle nous désigne par la suite une autre table indiquée elle comme étant réservée. Intrigués, nous lui faisons remarquer que celle-ci porte un écriteau… « C’est pour que les clients ne s’asseyent pas n’importe comment ». Avec un peu plus de respect et politesse depuis le début des échanges, cela ne nous aurait pas posé de problème et nous ne serions pas partis.
