Casa Gala — Restaurant in Céret

Made a reservation the day before. Not too friendly on the phone. Arrived at the place to discover it is closed.

Call the owner. Oh yes, we are closed. I didn't have your number written down to call you. (My number isn't hidden when calling). He didn't really seem to realise that he is expected to call when the place you reserve is not going to open.

The stated reason is illness and absence of 3 staff members. Weird that this is only known less than 24h up front.

We eat a lot of Tapas when we are in Catalonia. CasaGala has become our favourite. Nico moved from Collioure to Port Vendre last year, but the menu still has many of the good dishes. White wine sangria , beet gazpacho and anchovies were all amazing. Really liked the overall vibe of the place and the service was excellent. Family friendly and great value. Oh and the mussels were among the best I think I have had ever. Very much enjoyed this place and would recommend it...
