L'Auberge — Restaurant in Caen

We arrived at Ouistreham just after 13:40, delay due to some of the blockage on the periphery of Caen . We went to our usual restaurant and we were send away . So we started looking at others restaurants. Not too many were opened. We saw one of the set menu outside , my daughter liked it as she is vegetarian but eat fish . We walk in , the restaurant was still very busy . The lady told us to take a seat , she was very friendly and lovely . Service was very good , the lady was doing everything and did not stop . The food omg was excellent , so fresh ( not frozen ) , tastefully , was really impressed. The chef even help to deliver the food to the table which show a good team work . As we left at around 15:00 they were still table , mainly British people who were looking for a meal before to go on the ferry. I was really impressed and will go back . Just had a fabulous lunch ! Set menu! We tried both starters! Hot prawns amazing! Then salmon advacodo was Beautifully made ! Then veal escalope with a fantastic mushroom sauce ! Obwohl das Restaurant sonntags um 15:00 Pause macht, erhielten wir noch unsere Menüs (Dorade mit Gemüsereis) und fanden dies mit einem Glas Weisswein sehr fein. Auch das Dessert, Glace und Tarte tatin mit Kaffee zusammen mit dem netten Service genossen wir auf der Terrasse. Leider zog ein Gewitter auf. Der zuvorkommende Wirt ließ uns einen Calvados im wettergeschützten Bereich trinken. Wir könnten dort bleiben bis der Regen aufhöre, meinte er und schloss das Restaurant. Das Wetter meinte es nicht so gut. Dafür der Wirt umso besser. Wegen des Dauerregens kam er mit seinem Van zurück und fuhr uns mitsamt unseren Bikes zum Camping Carpark. Eine Entschädigung dafür wollte er partout nicht. Vielen lieben Dank - wir werden uns noch lange an dieses Erlebnis erinnern und empfehlen das Restaurant, den Service und das nette Personal sehr.
