The service, very kind and pleasant. The food, sadly a disappointment. It gives me no pleasure to write this review, but I will give constructive critiscm and explain why we've come to this less than average mark:
The croquet, two small shrimp in three large balls of dough, cold in the middle and frankly rather season-less.
The mains were satisfactory, albeit slightly dry bread, dry chips with a finesse-less expense added on the salmon burger - removing the beef and adding 6 euro for a rösti felt a bit harsh. Especially seeing as how our party's explicit gluten free order (not the fashion kind, the medicly relevant kind) had gluten in the onions. Prompted they were replaced in a swift, silent, cold chock pallor by our kind server - alas, thus the added fee for the potential heady trouble felt like a bit too much to swallow verily.
The deserts were overall tasty - the sabaion sauce too sweet for slightly under-tart strawberries (it's that season!), and the very tasty pavlova undermined by the inability to eat it by spoon as the very nice but sticky marengue was too hard distally to be partitioned.
Lastly, please, you do not need to play a trailer of your food on your wall as your guests are sitting, eating, talking, all night for hours. The always looping active sequence of 2m 45s takes away from both your company and enjoying the location. It's a cute, but honestly way, way too much. The old adage of show, don't tell taken a bit further than neccessary.
Good wine choices, nice personal, but overall slightly too much for slightly too little. All said, I wish you well and a great year!
Edit: The host responds that we could have given the critiscm in person instead of behind a screen, but sadly that communication was not recognized twice, and after that we...
Read moreNice guy, but if it weren’t for the 3 minute video looping for 2 hours straight, then my experience would probably be a lot better. The food landed in two different categories; it barely had any salt, or it had way too much salt. This is quite disappointing especially for a French restaurant as of the fact that I was expecting much more flavor and uniqueness from each bite. Plus, a customer got thrown out of the restaurant for reasons I don’t know since they were speaking French. But if I had to assume, it was probably something the customer said about the food that just maybe ticked off Grégoire himself. Someday I shall return to Grégoire’s with higher...
Read moreGood experience but nothing special. We asked for medium rare meat and had to send it back twice to grill it again since it was still raw.
The escargot as entrée was delicious!
Waitresses were very clumsy: dropping our knifes and forks on the ground, spilling wine when serving.. not very professional.
The owner is a nice hyperactive guy who’s always there and intervening to make sure it’s alright
Fries as side were either too oily or burned
Sadly, the dessert had a pastry which was old and not crispy, so didn’t taste great.
Overall, we paid as much as a michelin restaurant in the region which was far better for...
