Mike & James — Restaurant in Chambéry

Best burgers since In-n-out in San Diego.

Dropped in on this restaurant after late arrival in Chambery and was truly blown over. Despite the late hour (about 9 p.m. which in France is very late for eating) there were several family groups having a great time so that was a very good sign and it just got better and better.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly and our almost total lack of French wasn't a problem in the slightest. The menu was patiently translated for us and we went for the "chef's burger of the day" which apparently changes daily.

It was a succulent double decker burger with Savoyard cheese on one layer and lots of local ingredients and sauces filling the rest between the soft butties. It came with a choice of soft drinks and Pringle shaped fries which were crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. A delicious pecan pie and cheesecake followed by proper Grand Caffee au Lait topped off a magnificent meal and wonderful experience.

We recommend this place wholeheartedly and it will be our first port of call in future when passing...

i wanted to make sure that i left a review for this place, which is something i rarely do. we had such a wonderful experience here yesterday as we were trying to find something quickly before getting on our next train. this place was a heavenly find!! we had not eaten all day and it was amazing, love the burger, loved the fries and LOVE the handsome and sweet guy that took our order and helped us fumble through our poor french to get exactly what we needed and wanted! we were so grateful this place was there. thank you for your wonderful food and service. it really meant...

Nous sommes arrivés avec beaucoup d’aprioris positifs, une équipe soudée autour d’un concept et restaurant type shake schack. L’équipe nous assoit à une jolie table en nous informant qu’ils nous apporteront notre commande à table. 18mn après, je demande des nouvelles de notre commande et une des serveuses m’annonce qu’il y a …35mn d’attente. Je lui réponds qu’il aurait été utile d’avoir l’information lors de la commande, je m’enquière de nouveau auprès d’une autre jeune femme du temps d’attente, un peu incrédule quant à la première réponse, au vu du type de restaurant (commande au comptoir ou sur un écran), on s’attend à un service plus rapide et là, d’un ton sec, la jeune femme me dit : « j’ai compris Madame, vous me l’avez dit cinq fois » On repart s’asseoir et là, le gérant vient nous voir et sans quasiment avoir le temps de lui formuler de nouveau notre demande, d’un ton agressif voire rapidement menaçant, des insultes fusent, du tutoiement intempestif…. Bref, une réaction parfaitement disproportionnée au regard de ma remarque. Des insultes discriminatoires (« parisiens ») et un comportement parfaitement intolérable. J’ajoute en réponse du gérant, manifestement toujours aussi agressif et accusateur qu’après cette agression en règle, le tutoiement et les insultes, la suggestion était d’aller observer les pratiques dans d’autres pays, où la culture du service à la clientèle était plus développée. Son énervement a sans doute conduit à estimer ces réponses de « racistes » sans absolument aucun fondement. Heureusement que dans la même rue, des restaurateurs plus calmes, moins débordés, nous ont accueillis à et professionnalisme.
