Bar Restaurant La Cale Marine — Restaurant in Cherbourg

Don't take the meat dishes in this restaurant. No taste even after applying salt and pepper. I had the Côte de Veau and my wife had the beef steak with shallot sauce. I've read another review from last July in which a customer was also complaining about the Côte de Veau . I was thinking: let's give it another try. Maybe this was a one time experience. It seems however to repeat itself. And in the review also the French fries where given a negative note. Same here. As if the fries where reused from other customers.

Food was quite bad. If you're looking for a nice meal, don't go here. We ordered mussels and fries & catch of the day. The fries were served in a puddle of oil, very soggy. The fish of the dat came with the same fries or 4 small, bland, boiled potatoes that were highly overcooked. The fish itself tasted not fresh, unseasoned and more fried than baked. Best mussels I’ve had in the area I’ve tried several other restaurants but just been disappointed with gritty meat or precooked mussels I’ve only eaten the mussels here so I can’t review the rest of the menu.. But if you want to eat moules à la crème this is your place … table service not top but summer students don’t ever give you great service … all is forgiven as the mussels win … no bookings so get there early!!
