Les Paillottes — Restaurant in Coutances

Great bar with a sizeable terrace and balcony, both with views of the main beach. Restaurant open until 4pm during the high season serving locally inspired cuisine as well as sandwiches and paninis. Crêpes and desserts are available all day as well as a tapas menu from 5pm.

The only downside is that the quality of the food (presentation, temperature etc.) seems to suffer when they are busy. Great selection of beer, wine and cocktails as well as a variety of flavoured rums which are prepared in-house. Concerts are held frequently and major sporting events are broadcast on three...

It’s a very pleasant bar with a nice outside area and views of the sea. A good range of hot and cold drinks reasonable prices and pleasant staff - what’s not to like?

The only food we were aware of was an apero of rustic looking sausage. It’s very much a bar.

One thing to note. There’s an after lunch closure from (if I remember correctly) 2.15 to 4.00, when it reopened. (If they do that in July and August I would be surprised).

Cliente des Paillottes depuis près de 30 ans, je suis profondément déçue par l’ambiance actuelle du lieu. La nouvelle gérante est manifestement peu accueillante, en particulier envers les familles (enfants, chiens), ce qui est surprenant dans une station balnéaire familiale. Venue hors saison dans un bar aux 3/4 vide, avec mon ordinateur pour travailler calmement, j’ai senti une pression claire pour me faire partir à travers les regards insistants de la gérante. Un mot aurait suffi, cela aurait été plus courtois. Ce n’est plus l’endroit chaleureux que j’ai connu où tous les profils et générations se côtoient. J’attendrai un changement de propriétaire pour y...
