Mario Plage — Restaurant in Draguignan

We have been coming to Mario Plage every year for the past three years; we loved this place so much that we started telling our social circles about it; our family spent at least two weeks every year in Saint-Maxime and Mario Plage was our only go to beach and food restaurant; every year we spent at least 15k Euro in both restaurant and beach beds at Mario Plage; only because we loved the staff, the service and the location convenience. This year though, it felt really different; we made reservation for both beds and table for lunch and apparently all tables were reserved when we went to have lunch; even though you can look around and you can see obviously the restaurant is mainly empty with a few tables occupied at the peak of the lunch timeframe. They had to make up another table for our family of 8 to sit in because all the other tables that can fit our family very well were reserved according to a very rude hosting person. I am writing this as I am actually having lunch at Mario and doing it with a very heavy heart as I love this place; but after today’s experience myself or anyone related to my social circle will never come to Mario again; we felt discriminated against; very sad story but I was so disrespected there this time that I ordered tab water, something that I have not drank in 35 years; all because I did not want to spent any more Euros at Mario than I had to. We have been coming to Mario Plage every summer for over 16 years as a family. This year we were very disappointed with the food and the staff who where unwilling to listen to our feedback. The menu has changed dramatically this year and in our opinion not for the better. Sometime simple food done well is much better the fancy food done badly. The food choice was limited and expensive for what is was and when I spoke to our waitress about the change in menu not actually being an improvement she told me I was wrong and that it was a much better menu. What can I say. Table was dirty, and when we asked waiter to clean it up, clearly the face was unhappy. Hey it’s not my fault you sit us on dirty table. Also we had to wave for waiter to notice us so he could take order after we were seated, and he was like”yeah yeah I’m coming”. Anyways the food, the complementary tapenade and biscuits were store bought. The crab tartar wasn’t fresh and was clearly canned. Calmari was just ok. Considering prices, full blast of latino and russian music and poor service, I cannot understand how this place gets so many...
