Monroe’s — Restaurant in Draguignan

As an englishman living in France I was excited to see a Sunday roast dinner on the menu but, I was left thoroughly disappointed with the 'traditional Sunday roast' I was served here. After loading my two young kids, (2 & 5), into the car with my wife and her mother we made the 1 hour drive to Monroe's after I heard about it on a Facebook group. We all ordered the Sunday roast and the kids had pasta. 2 very small roast potatoes, a large, but over cooked Yorkshire pudding, a spoon full serving of peas with a few sliced carrots in, (this was clearly from a bag of frozen veg), and very thinly sliced meat that reminded me of school dinners when I was a child. When I spoke about this to the person that was recommending Monroes via Facebook, I was made to feel like it was my own fault and was told that I should of complained! Apparently, the servers ALL spoke English, (none of the servers we had attempted to speak ANY english and none were very welcoming with not even a smile), and every comment from the person that recommended Monroes to me, (who clearly has some connection to the place to be advertising it to people on Facebook), was followed by a crying laughing emoji "😂" when I made a comment to her after our visit detailing our disappointing experiece. This same person even decided to take a screen shot of this review and post it to the Facebook group in our previous messages where I was personally scolded for my review not being to her liking! Embarrassing really! 🙄 Suffice to say, I shall not be spending anymore money here and advise others not to waste theirs either....

As résidents of Port grimoud we were looking for a place to play some pool. We arrived... the lady at the bar made us wait for over 15 min. We ordered a bottle of champagne "Ruinart" for €90.

After another 10min we got the bottle... already opened, warm glasses. Also we noticed that the bottle wasn't fully filled. We said to the Bar lady that it is not the common use to bring a bottle already opened and that it was not full. Onwards she reacted offended and said she will contact the boss.

Another young lady arrived asking what the problem was. We kindly explained the situation again and asked her to show us a closed bottle to compare with the bottle we got. So we could prove our point ont the fact the bottle wasn't fully filled.

We have been going to Monroe's for many years and use to love it, the old owners where great and put alot of effort into running it. These last few years it has been slowly going down hill dramatically. Our diner on Sunday was horrible, food was cold and not great quality. I had their beef stir-fry, which in years past was ok. Sadly, it was cold and not Stir-fried but more stewed and gray in colour. I left it. We also ordered Fish and Chips but again it was very poor quality. Service wasn't good either with staff standing at the bar talking while we wanted our bill. Sadly we will not be back unless for a drink but something needs to Chang with the management here or else nobody will...
